The very last thing Brother Obama wants people to even slightly consider, is how little we need Govt. in our immediate lives. He is resorting to his usual "the-sky-is-going-to-fall" BS tactics that he used when he sold that truckload of pucky called the "stimulus". How did that work out for us again??
He is a great BSer, because the major makets, banks, US Corps, even the GOP rank in file agree...Even Boehner does.
It wasn't so long ago by European standards where things that happened 1000 years ago are remembered. But back when our government was first conceived it took days if not weeks to get hand carry communications to some frontier outpost in the original Northwest territories! Also back in those halcyon days the price of a single F-35 Lightening 2 Attack -Fighter plane (Est cost over 100 million dollars) would have paid for our common defense during all eight years of George Washington's Presidency with enough left over to fight the War of 1812. So wishing for this fondly remembered Golden Era is of little or no taxes and where its every man for himself is now impossible in a modern urban America where death canrain down from the sky and things needed to be answered the day before yesterday. An America with the telecommunications and the computing power to keep a fix on where every person is what he is thinking and what he is doing every second of our lives. The future will belong to the quick and those that can't or won't keep up and play the game will be the 21st Century LOSERS.
Even silly pieces of the US Constitution like the 2nd Ammendment made sense in the 18th Century when it took months for one of the Europesn powers like Britain, Spain or France to send a punitive raid to punish the Colonial Upstarts. There was more than enough time to pass the word around and assemble every man on the town Green or Village square into a militia line each carrying his trusty long rifle and his shot pouch with powder and a spare flit or two) and shot lovingly made by his wife or children by melting down a pewter dish or cup in the pantry.

Then each year, the congress pass what parts of government were funded, with that budget during that year, to keep that budget balanced.
It doesn't seem to matter to liberals. They want their agenda passed no matter what, it seems. But what else is new?
We have to protect the constitutional right to an abortion, but need to restrict owning guns. Subsidies to farms and big oil are evil, but subsidies to windmills and solar companies are fine. Bush was a cowboy warmonger, but Obama attacking Libya and putting us on the brink of war over Syria were fine. Bush's 400 billion dollar deficits were ruining the economy, but Obama's 1 trillion dollar deficits are saving the economy.
I no longer expect any consistency from liberals. They are emotional ideologues, pure and simple. They will twist reality and facts any way they can to make themselves look good. Obama declared he'd veto any attempt to get around sequestration, then went on a speech tour blaming sequestration on Republicans. And liberals accepted that just fine. They have no principles. When Bush was President, they declared that dissent was the highest form of patriotism. Now it is obstructionism and economic terrorism.

It was not intended for Congress to re-legislate laws previously passed through the power of the purse. Laws passed are laws, and they are to be upheld until such time as they are either amended or repealed. Congress historically used the budget for smaller skirmishes, mainly related more closely to budgetary matters, but not on the scale that Republicans are trying to do.
If what you claimed was true, then there would be no point in winning elections and passing bills, so long as you have the House; you can trump any law you don't like (or demand any new law that doesn't exist) by threatening shutdown, economic harm, and default.
It was not intended for government policy to be determined on the basis of budgetary threat. It was intended to be determined based on elections and policy passed through the House, Senate, White House, and Supreme Court as appropriate.

The American People say otherwise, OP. They see through the thinly veiled racism, obstructionism, and hate of the Tea Party. They don't like what they see.
We are watching the Tea Party self-destruct as we speak. Maybe the GOP can rise from the ashes to once again become a party that stands FOR something.

If you're posting this in relation to the current "CR" debate, I think you misunderstand what has happened. The Congress authorized/ordered certain spending, and a relatively small group of GOP Congressmen are standing in the way of the government paying those bills. This is not about the larger, important issue of overall spending, balanced budget, etc. This Congress ordered things to be done, and a few in Congress, anarchists, are disobeying the Congress. Frankly, those standing in the way should be tried for treason.
When you vote in people who are willing to fall on the sword or throw the country over the edge because they hate something (ACA) or someone (the President) so much, then you get what you ask for. In the case of these Tea Partiers, they're doing exactly what they said they would. Rational people in their districts need to get rid of them or this will keep happening. You have some things like the gerrymandering that have skewed things.
We have some people in this country who think the government should take care of them, and others who think government is evil. So, when I hear people say they hate Congress..Congress is just a reflection of the country.
