It depends on what you mean by "created." If you simply mean "caused" your question is moot. Everything is caused. If you mean "caused on purpose and with a plan" then most things in the universe answer your question by demonstration; all are caused but almost nothing is caused purposefully or with a plan.

And there is your conceptual error, right there. Why do you assume the process needed a start? After all, as an admitted theist, you already have no problem in believing in things that are eternal and uncreated; in your case, you already accept that God "always existed." Right?
The difference between the philosophical materialist and the theist is that materialists see no particular use for the God step. If something can be eternal and uncreated... why not the universe?
