Another example of a socialist program is Canada's healthcare system. Proponents argue that it provides free healthcare to those who would otherwise be uninsured or underinsured. But the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Canada's free healthcare system often delays important medical procedures and treatments simply because it doesn't have the manpower, space and time to handle them. One highly publicized example of this untimely delay is the case of identical quadruplets born in Montana. The quadruplets had to be delivered in Great Falls because no hospital in the entirety of Canada, where their parents reside, could handle their delivery.

Socialist groups around the world continue to push for reform in their societies.
Aside from purely dictatorial states, some socialism is necessary in most any modern country. National defense comes first to mind.

But with HC issues, the reason many Canadians come here is for our expertise and technology. Our system is simply more advanced due to all our research systems, many of which of course are centrally created and/or funded. More socialism.

We've got it tough in America.

It will get tougher... we can be mandated to pay anything now.

We are being taken over by the socialists. They are taking over the minds of the democrats as they follow the word democrat to any extent..
The democratic party is dead. It used to be for the hard working Americans but now it is for the illegals and special interests such as abortion, birth control and gay marriage.

Tell me what has the democratic party done for Americans other than rob them of their jobs . The democratic party is a party of the world not of the American people. It is hand outs with no responsibility at all to those who use the system .. democrats in charge buy votes today. It is the bribe party also.

I'm not biased toward those particular weapons. But I am about tired of reading about all these kids stealing their parent's weapons and going to school with them. When do parents tell their kids the gun cabinet lock combination number?

Gee, It makes one wonder how governments throughout history were funded long before anyone even considered "capitalism".

It would be a dictatorship with Obama taking money out of the people's pockets.. oh wait.. Obama is doing that will Obamacare and the dictating the mandate of Obamacare.. there is no choice. It is pay or be fined.
Another member of the etymologically challenged. Obamacare, passed by the House of Representatives, and the Senate, confirmed by the Supreme Court and a law that has withstood 44 democratic attempts to repeal it, is equated with dictatorship.

Certainly there are overlaps and opinions, but by and large socialism these days means central ownership and control. Whereas worker ownership is communism.

Yes all 58,720,700 of them.

I wish these disaffected Reagan (white male) Democrats would take their prozac, drink a six pack and get over themselves.

Typically recipients get 3-6X their return on their money. So it is heavily subsidized.

With the cost of medical care escalating across the board, this is expected. Its not just medicare.

Does that mean the OP thinks anything with the word "public" attached to it is also socialist? Public schools, public libraries, public roads, public parks, etc?
