If today, everyone who currently lives in America, but was born overseas (legal and illegal), went back to the country they were born in and did not return, what would happen?

These include: the immigrant scientists, engineers, computer geniuses, landscapers, restaurant workers, wonderful people, criminals and, legal and illegal residents. Everyone who was born overseas leaves tomorrow.

Would this eventually be good for America because we would all speak a common language and share a common culture, or bad for America because we would lose the skills and talents of the foreign born residents? Your thoughts.

No, this is not a troll post, but a sincere posting to try to get people talking.

Notice: I had no opinion in my original post.

No one wants to kick legal residents out of the country.

We'd be worse off for it. We need hard working, talented, creative, and driven people of all walks of life in this nation. You can never have too many good people in the country. Are all foreigners "good"? No but we can handle the bad apples. You see people think of wealth as static and in tough times are tempted to scapegoat immigrants for "stealing jobs" but wealth is NOT static. More wealth can be generated and when times are good we can't seem to find enough work. Lets not scapegoat immigrants for our woes. There is room for everybody in this nation, this is still the land of opportunity if you are flexible and hardworking.

No one is being kicked out. In this situation they just leave.

why do you think zuckerberg is such a pro immigration advocate?

he is because they have the knowledge to create, especially indian and chinese immigrants.

americans know how to use a smartphone, they can't create an app or create a network though.

there are plenty of skilled jobs available in this country, the problem is Americans are not skilled enough for the positions. we are a service based country, restaurants, fast food, retail, thats what we do well.

i get tired when i hear of conservatives talking about immigrants taking skilled jobs away for the following reasons i listed.

they would hire americans if americans could do the job. they cant.

My parents, who have lived here 25+ years and became US citizens, would be very upset.

No-one wants legal immigrants to leave, but if they did, perhaps there would be incentive for Americans to step up to the plate and actually work to fill those jobs?

It's easy now to say "I can't find the talent I need" and bring someone in from overseas. If there were actually jobs open then perhaps instead of useless Liberal Arts degrees, our kids would invest in degrees in hard sciences and mathematics instead?

If we weren't reduced to a service based economy, perhaps we could start rebuilding the business climate that once existed to create jobs here?

As long as it is simpler and cheaper to hire someone with the skills overseas and import them here, or export manufacturing jobs because of cost, nothing will change no matter if all immigrants left or not.
