We should be asking why does it cost so much to have a baby? Once government nationalizes things that they can manage better than private industry that pumps prices up then things will be cheaper.
Yes. I help my community a lot actually. I give to charities, volunteer etc. You obviously haven't read most of my replies as I already said things that are necessities should be dealt with first but its people before profits. Part of the problem is having private companies pumping the price of stuff up to put profits before people as usual. Once government either cracks down severely on those companies or takes over them in full things will become lower in price. You also need to break the monopoly of international money lenders grip on your economy. Print your own money OR give out certificates that the people will use to buy things made in the country etc. That way the money is staying within the country and it fixes things. I am no fan of Hitler by any means but take a look at how things were done there...I read somewhere they did this very thing. Broke the monopoly of international banks running the money things and did it themselves and it worked pretty well. I am more Socialist than that and think any private companies need to be TIGHTLY controlled to control them from jacking prices up to high to make a buck. Capitalism is evil and pushes people towards caring more for money than for their fellow man.
We don't need to ask why it costs so much, we already know the answer. Insurance companies, medicare, medicaid, and lawsuits.
If the liberals were serious about healthcare reform, they would have included tort reform in the Affordable Care Act.
They are serious about redistributing wealth and/or making more people dependent on government assistance. They couldn't care less if you get quality or any healthcare.
I completely agree about tort reform. It needs to be done yesterday.
No, you tell me. By all accounts, given my history, I should be sitting around dripping in jewels driving an Escalade rolling around in my welfare riches.

nope...you are a prime example that capitalism, personal responsibility and SELF IMPROVEMENT can work
socialism creates mediocrity
I don't agree.
I've told my story here many times. By what you and many others here say, I should still be an unemployed high school drop out single mother on welfare. But I'm not.
I was on every social program I (or my child) qualified for.
Social safety nets work. You just don't hear the success stories. They don't make for quite such salacious reading.

A job and working for a living is the best social program there is, but the liberals think having someone do a little work is cruel.

and those safety nets are worthless if YOU don't take the EFFORT to IMPROVEYOURSELF
YOU , not the safety net, are what worked.....YOU are what improved yourself
the problem is that many people take these CRUTCHES, and DONT that the EFFORT to improvethemselves.
I applaud you on your effort of SELF IMPROVMENT and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY...because it wasn't the safety net that did it...it was you

But who knows how many are just milking the system.
How do you explain generational welfare that has taken over many a family ?
Without an audit we'll never know.
Lifeline kicked 41% of their subscribers out because they didn't qualify.
That's a pretty high percentage of people scamming the system.
I would think the other programs would probably show the same.
The "safety net" has become a way of life for too many people.
Nope. And I don't care. Government isn't supposed to be run like a business. Its goal is not to turn profits. Its goal is to work for the people.
This is why Government does most things so poorly, inefficiently and wastefully.
Innovation is driven by the profit motive. Take that away and you get stagnation.
Does anyone at the DMV give a crap if you have to wait all day? Nope, why should they?

You mean you arent sitting around living off welfare, and you're busy thanking the government for somehow lifting you up, and not your own hard work? Thats pretty pathetic.
