This is sad but I read a comment a few days ago that sticks with me. This is the mother's guilt. The comment said that the mother expressed that the girl was scared she wouldn't wake up. Kids, people in general have fears over surgery but that the girl was truly terrified. Maybe she knew. I think she did.
When you have a feeling it sticks. But the mother went ahead with the surgery. She was also extremely overweight for her age. I'm sure she feels guilty about that too. That possibly aggravated the sleep apnea.
So as to assuage her guilt she just can't let go. He brain hasn't have blood flow for going on 3 weeks now.
IMO a person on life support is physically dead. If you can't breath and sustain without medical intervention you're not alive. Living people are living with no intervention. A coma is alive. Brain dead, life support is as dead as in a casket. Blunt but IMO true. She's dead. It's sad but this whole ordeal is ridiculous and horrible.
They're doing this, this dragging it out for some reason and I can't figure out why. Maybe Obamacare or something but it just seems weird.
I feel bad for them. A simple procedure that had an unexpected turn out. They should let her rest by mid-January.
This was not a simple procedure - it was a combination of 3 or 4 procedures. In fact, an ICU overnight stay was pre-planned. That should show anyone that this was NOT routine as most everything is done on an outpatient basis today.
Terri Shiavo Foundation working with Jahi's McMath family
Yesterday in theses pages I wondered out loud how long it would be before one of those RW nut job "right to life" groups rallied to the cause of poor little Jahi McMath (aka, the dead girl). Now comes news that the Terri Shaivo Foundation is getting involved:
That's because nut job groups are not that far away from the brain dead in terms of mental functions.
They celebrated "right to life" before with Chick fil A's comments by eating deep fried crap that clogs arteries.
Many do it repeatedly to "show them liberals" by literally killing themselves slowly, probably ending up on government health care after the eventual heart attack or ischemic stroke.
The hospital want to tell the real story but the parents won't let them:
"We want the public to know that the family has not permitted us to discuss the medical situation. We are unable -- without the family’s permission--to talk about the medical procedure, background or any of the details that are a part of this tragedy. Details that would provide transparency, openness and provide answers to the public about this situation.
We implore the family to allow the hospital to openly discuss what has occurred and to give us the necessary legal permission--which it has been withholding--that would bring clarity, and we believe, some measure of closure and deeper understanding of this medical case.
Many of the statements made by the family and its attorney must be taken in the context that they will not allow CHO to discuss the case and provide the information necessary for there to be a fuller understanding."
