They adopted 14 kids abandoned, abused, and unwanted by heterosexuals out of foster care. Wouldn't you say allowing gay marriage to encourage things like this is good for society?
Fourteen wonderful children who came into this world because a man and a woman (probably straight) had sex. It's a good bet some of them were married. Yet for one reason or another they were unable to be good parents. Thus their children ended up in foster care. Where they languished.
Thankfully, people such as the OP aren't in charge of who is allowed to give a loving home to those kids. These 14 kids would still be unwanted and not in the care of two loving men who are providing them with..... a family.
Personal relationships are the most private of personal issues. It is a blatant intrusion for the government to involve itself in any way shape or form in anyone’s personal relationship.
We have already been down that road and you had psychopaths trying to legislate what race people could marry, what kinds of sex you can have, and other oppressive standards which invade privacy and nullify personal rights.
You know for this country supposedly being called the land of the free, we sure have a lot of authoritarian types who feel that they need to tell other people how to live their lives.

That's nice, but one couple with 14 kids is not exactly the foundation for the nation. Traditional family is the foundation. There are rules, and there are exceptions, and your example is an exception. There are also hetero couples who do not have kids. They are exceptions too. Having the government promote SSM because of few exceptions goes against common sense.

No, no one will force you to marry and have kids. You got it all wrong.

Not only that but the marriages of those heterosexual couples that had children and gave them up should be promoted, while the marriage of the couple that gave those children should be banned.
Oh, you mean like Michelle Obama trying to promote healthier eating, and conservative heads exploding? Kind of like that? After all, it would benefit the nation as a whole if people weren't the size of water buffaloes. How about when NY tried to ban sodas the size of bathtubs? You'd be OK with that, I suppose? I'm guessing....not so much. The right had hissy fits.
But...but....it would benefit the nation!!
But NOOOOO! Lets pick on the gays!
No silly, the government offering advice on how to eat healthy interferes with personal liberty. But government prohibiting gays from marriage is great because it's my personal liberty to tell others how to live. Freedom! Guns! Jesus!

Thanks for the repetition. No one is telling you that you have to marry and have kids, you can stay single if you want to, but the other people who do create families provide for a more stable nation for everyone. Why is this so hard to understand?

Already married and have a child. Nobody forced me to do it. Certainly not the government! My point is the government should not be in the business of legislating morality, and telling adults who they can or cannot marry, or how to live their lives, because others don't like it.

Care to answer the question, Finn Jarber?
After all, the government should promote things that benefit the nation as a whole.

I think it WOULD benefit the nation if we could encourage people to eat healthier. It would reduce our healthcare spending by tend of billions. I think it is another example where there is potential for significant gains with minimal, or no investment. Of course it would have to be about encouragement, not enforcement. Nancy Reagan was on a similar mission about drug use. Good for her.
