Should we start posting about billion dollar projects that have gone up in red states? Seems a bit off topic and pointless.

Even the right-wing Tax Foundation admits that Red States spend more Federal tax dollars than they contribute (while Blue State contribute more than they spend):

"Federal Taxes Paid vs. Spending Received by State

Produced in 2007, this highly-cited study tabulates the state-by-state burden of all categories of federal taxes, comparing it to the flow of federal spending back to each state, bringing the two sides of federal fiscal operations together. Thanks to a steeply progressive federal income tax, states with higher incomes pay vastly higher federal taxes, payments that are unlikely ever to be matched by federal spending directed to those states. Ironically, most of these high-paying states are the so-called blue states..."

OK but others have disputed this:
Articles: The Myth of Red State Welfare

I suspect that the devil is in the details here. If you look at a state like CA or IL, they are traditionally economically successful, have turned deep blue in recent decades, and now face terrible deficit problems. They might still be wealthier than a typical red state, but are headed in the wrong direction.

Actually their massive deficits have recently become a surplus according to some, a flat stable amount to others. But they certainly arent headed in the wrong direction.

I will leave this right here for you. I didn't realize creating a surplus and paying down a debt was considered going in the wrong direction.

Looks like Seattle has two boondoggles. A tunnel project and a light rail project. Light rail- a total waste of tax payer money.

Have you ever been to Seattle? Their light rail will do just fine, especially with the plan they have set up.

It's not a "Liberal" project, and it NEVER WAS. Liberals in fact OPPOSED the tunnel from the beginning.
It's just astonishing how you wingnuts types can be wrong about virtually EVERYTHING, EVERY SINGLE TIME - but then again that's what happens when you simply have a "knee jerk" reaction to something without ever bothering to actually LEARN the facts about an issue. You see the word "Seattle" and you immediately ASSume it's a "Liberal" project when in fact it's not the "Liberals" who wanted it at all.
Get a clue!

Ken
Like I said you want it then pay for it. Wait you said in an earlier post taxpayers wouldn't be on the hook. Himm Knee jerk reaction is drilling a tunnel where big mamma goes down. My cousin lives in seattle I don't know why the name of that city has anything to do with this. When I see taxpayer dollars tossed into a trash can to be recycled and tossed again I KNOW it is a liberal project. That is what liberals do. Tax folks then destroy things and then claim they, the ones who f'd it up in the first place, are the only one's who can fix it............just pay us more money to do so. Congrats you have snookered the nation. Not me though.
