Doesn't the Bible and/or another religious text state that people need to be fruitful and multiply?
How fruitful though? Did the Bible advocate for people to pro-create and not be able to care for their kids? Besides back then the earth was sparsely populated with plentiful resources and space. Not so today. One can have a couple of kids and still considered to be "fruitful" can't they?
That, however, is not the norm, and I do not believe that she's the representative for all of the people who have been on welfare.
I agree, she was an extreme case. Welfare has a purpose, to help our fellow Americans out when they fall on hard times. Some people, like her, take it for granted that social welfare, charity from their neighbors, should be a permanent way of life.

Many branches of religion promote natalism. Off the top, The Roman Catholic Church, the largest branch of Christianity, Amish, Evangelical Quiverfulls, LDS, Islam, branches of Hinduism and Orthdox Jews forbid the use of contraception and/ or strongly encourage procreation.
Throughout modern history, some nations developed social policies to encourage and reward procreation. For 50 years the USSR imposed a tax on families that did not reproduce their fair share. Natalism was very much a part of Santorum's 2012 platform. He wanted to increase deductions and credits for children to encourage large families.
Romney got a lot of media attention for remarks he made at some college commencement whereby he encouraged the class to marry young and have many children.
As for me, I think it irresponsible to have children one cannot emotionally and financially support.
It does not matter what you or anyone else thinks, the choice of couples to have children is their business and you along with everyone else should stay out of their bedroom, their vaginas and their lives and keep your opinions to yourself.
I think the better question would be:
Is it morally wrong to dictate and judge how others live their lives when your own life needs tended to first?
The choice of couples to have children is their business, yes, but when they seek help from public/charitable funds, it then becomes other people's business.
As long as you are "tending" to you own life without assistance from others, have as many children as you like. If you are taking handouts from any entity in order to adequately provide for your children, you need to stop having babies. Immediately.
Well that's exactly what they are getting, what they and Liberals believe is owed to them, and is what Democrats give to them and promise them in order to get votes.

They do for tax credits. That is how families can actually get back more than they pay - the Child Tax Credit is up to $1k per child, and the EITC often applies to those people, too.
Lots of people I know have lots of children but make very little money. When I asked them why they had so many children when neither the mother or father made much money, they basically told me that money and income should not be a consideration when deciding how large your family is. They say children are a gift from God and if the children are born everyone should welcome them to the world and society will help support them. They believe that even though they are poor financially they have just as much right to bring lots of babies into the world as someone who is rich.
If you are parents would you agree that society (taxpayers) have a obligation to help bring up your children because our country needs a younger generation from all kinds of people (rich and poor)? Would your financial situation impact your decision to have a larger family? In other words, should only rich parents be able to have a very large family?
(* The other side would say that it is wrong to have babies if they know the taxpayer is going to support them)
