Who indicated they were afraide he would get away, the cops should not have used a choke hold but how do you arrest someone that size who won't go peacefully. He was guilty so should the cops just walk away and give him a pass because he doesn't want to be arrested.

The thing is, infantrymen have little to no value in society after their service is over. How many job sectors can you transfer infantrymen skills into civilian life? Very very little. Grunts and jarheads have poor job prospects after they separate from the military. They didn't have much between their ears going in, and still don't going out, except now that instead of just being stupid, they're stupid and deadly

Bet you they have some type of military background.

It's a good reason to give us all defense weapons and standard magazines.

It is a way to start a huge wave of civil unrest. The rogue LEOs will get worse and protests will get nasty. Then the MRAPs roll in with brainddead LEOs with riotgear and inflated egos.

Dude! You just hit my mom in the face with that club! War in the streets.

You do not need an autopsy to conclude a prohibited chokehold was used.

Untaxed cigarettes. Worthy of the death penalty!

Seriously have had enough of these thugs with badges. The death penalty for selling cigarettes...tax or no tax...should never be accepted. How anyone could think this was okay, or excusable, is beyond me.

Oh here are the apologists:

At no point does that give them the right to use an illegal choke hold. At. No. Time.

It doesn't matter what you think of the guy, giving a pass to an officer who used an illegal choke hold on someone is unacceptable. Remember, it all starts out small, and then it grows the more people say, "What do you expect when you do a crime? What do you expect if you resist? Who cares, he's a scum bag?" Be very, very careful what you consider acceptable.

Very unfortunate but all he had to do was comply, instead he claimed he was being harassed and refused to go peacefully.

Just stop. Seriously, knock it off.

An NYPD spokesperson would only tell the Daily News that Garner “was being placed in custody, went into cardiac arrest and died.” Internal affairs has launched an investigation, with Garner’s wife saying a detective has been in touch. “I’m sorry for your loss,” he said, noting that he was involved “because there is wrongdoing.”
You got that, MJJersey? Did you forget to read the entire article? It was an illegal choke hold.

Some of you people make me sick.

Vets have not given me anything that I have now since World War II. I never buy the line that we have to fight them over there so we can be free here. That's something for neo-Confederates who become sexually aroused looking the pistols and shotguns on the cover of Guns & Ammo to believe.

That's what happens when PTSD vets have little job prospects except LE. There are better adjusted vets who are getting jobs in the private sector, but I think we can both agree that TOO MANY PTSD vets are becoming police officers. Unacceptable, and that is a failure of the government.
What is unacceptable is that we don't treat our vets if the have ptsd. It's the failure of government and society.

Funny how everyone on the scene said that all the guy did was break up a fight. I didn't see a single cigarette on the guy.
