Doesn't the landlord have to agree to accept vouchers? Landlords that agree to accept vouchers know that the rent is guaranteed every month. If a working tenant moves out he can notify the agency that there is an apartment available and someone getting a voucher will get the apartment.

As a landlord, I find this view utterly ridiculous. The issue isnt that the landlord is accepting welfare payments, the issue is that welfare payments shouldnt be so ridiculously high, that they can afford to live in luxury.

Landlords in Chicago have been required to accept vouchers from qualified applicants for more than 20 years.
Reportedly about 20 other cities have similar mandates as does the entire state of Ma.
Crains Chicago broke the news about 500 LSD, a luxury apartment complex. Crains is now on a quest to learn who recieved the super vouchers and if they are politically connected. There is speculation that the recipients may be disabled and require accessable housing.
The building is owned in part by the AFL-CIO Investment Trust. This is one of many labor associations that is determined to prevent Rahm from winning a second term because he supports charter schools, closed non performing, low attendance schools and fired teachers.

Your "view" is nothing more than your opinion. As a landlord I'm sure you wouldn't mind getting a few vouchers at $3,000 a pop.
Do you think every state operates the same? Landlords in NY do not have to accept vouchers, it is at their discretion to do so.
99% of the time people interested in an apartment are required to fill out a form which includes source of income, a couple of pay stubs and landlords run credit checks. To some landlords it's a blessing to get a voucher, to others it isn't. A landlord can turn down someone based on poor credit and low income and usually will tell the applicant that the apartment was rented. It's when someone has a good credit rating, a healthy income and gets turned down because of race/religion/ethnicity, that a case can be brought.

I was just thinking that, being Chicago I wouldn't be surprised if many of these residents are politically connected, community activist types.
