Why is anyone surprised? This is the general tenor of "thought" that the right-wing is cultivating in its sycophants - abusively self-centered. It's their "brand".

She wants to be provocative so people will buy her books and read her blog, just as Bill Maher says some pretty awful things on his show and in his stand-up routines. I don't think the Democratic Party is listening to Bill Maher and taking their cues from him, any more than I think the Republicans are doing so with Ann Coulter.

HEY ANN - he may not have been a perfect human with perfect judgment, but at least he was doing SOMETHING in his life, both during his time in the USA and Africa, to help others and at least try to make the world better. Her point was not that this man should not have done anything, her point was that we have a lot of problems right here at home that this man could help with. But did he help his fellow man here at home? No.
