So how many hours do you work a month to earn the money to pay for your healthcare, food, housing, utilities? And do they thank you? Nope they still bit*ch and moan they want more.
Irrelevant. They're getting this on top of whatever they get paid for working.

A terrible idea. In many, especially rural, areas, those charity organizations don't actually exist. If you're lucky there's a church that might help out its members.
We have these programs precisely because charity organizations can't - or don't want to - handle the demand.
We conservatives WANT to help the disabled.....NOT the unwilling.
So what is your comprehensive plan to separate the disabled from the unwilling? We'd all like to know. Makes a nice, meaningless bumbersticker for a red state. "Help the needy. Not the unwilling!" How exactly will you do that?
$15,000,000 / 12,000 = 1250 dollars a year per person.
20 hours a week X 52 = 1040 hours a year.
This works out to $1.20 an hour.
Nice. Buy some steaks with that, homie. Hell, try to feed just 1 kid with that Just try it. We'll laugh while you do your 20 hours a week for 24 dollars. At least some of those people above and below this post will. That's all they think you are worth per hour. HAH HAH AHA HA.
Some recipients get the minimum $10 per month. if you qualify for less than $10 you get $0.
That works out to working for 12 cents per hour. (1040 hours per year, divided by $120)

The question is directed at people who pay their own way and aren't a drag on other Americans.

Just keep in mind, the welfare group get all this for nothing and still b*tch. They disrespect you, they couldn't care less that you bust your ass to pay their way, they just want more of your money.
Walmart makes billions off of food stamps, they'll never let charities like food banks take over feeding the country's poor. Not gonna happen, food stamps aren't going anywhere.
No-one is guaranteed anything in life. No-one owes anyone anything. If you want to eat bad enough you'll do what you have to do to get food on your table.
I feel like when "what you have to do" becomes "break into your car and sell your stereo on the black market for McDonald's money", you might see the error in this sort of thinking.

This is better than nothing, but I think people overestimate how easy it is to volunteer. Not everyone lives somewhere that there is a volunteer organization accessible without a car, not every volunteer organization is always looking for more help, et cetera. Maine includes some fairly rural areas.

Because it never occurred to them to work like the rest of us? They'll just take what they didn't earn one way or another?
And they have no legs....or they're blind......"what about the children!"
Lefties are full of excuses for slackers.
The only excuse is you rationalizing poor people to "go **** off and die."

You're stupid and Americans and you certainly don't understand economics.
Get over it.
