This. I would know they could breathe. But I might not realize they were simultaneously dying of multiple underlying medical conditions.
It depends on what my objective was. If I wanted to choke the man to death I would be satisfied I was accomplishing my goals. If I were trying to restrain the man I would let up on the hold.
