I don't understand the controversy. This is what he ran on. Stopping things like stop and frisk. Stop and Frisk did overwhelmingly target people of color so what he said was exactly what he ran on. It's why the people elected him. Why not defend your earlier position? Why back track?

And that painful sense of contradiction that our young people see first, that our police are here to protect us, and we honor that, and at the same time, there’s a history we have to overcome, because for so many of our young people, there’s a fear. And for so many of our families, there’s a fear. So I’ve had to worry over the years. Chirlane’s had to worry. Is Dante safe each night?
There are so many families in this city who feel that each and every night. Is my child safe? And not just from some of the painful realities—crime and violence in some of our neighborhoods—but is safe from the very people they want to have faith in as their protectors. That’s the reality."

The bolding part is mine and is the usual mistake almost all parents make which leads to problems.

Implying that his son is in more danger by the hand of police than by the hand of another person of color is a direct contradiction of the statistics to the contrary and that's why it appears to be an insult to the majority of law-abiding police officers.
He never said that. The bolding part is mine.

He wasn't addressing threats in general.

He did not take sides in the Garner decision
Everything he said was in the context of Garner's death --- the story about his son; 'injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere'; centuries of racism brought us to this day --- and on and on with his connecting Garner to racist cops and a racist country.

Even if Garner was in the mayor's words 'a good man,' he also was a pain the rear for the cops who had a few decades of dealing with him. He was resisting arrest that day.

If you want a quote of De Blasio saying, the cops are racist, it's not there. If you're able to take all he said, And what he didn't say, in context, he absolutely encouraged protest and belittled the police.

Carry on.

NBC? Aren't they the same dishonest race-baiting news agency that edited the 911 calls in the Travon Martin case to make it sound like George Zimmerman, security guard, was racially motivated? Do you really want to trust their lies one more time?

The Medical Examiner clearly stated that there was no damage to the windpipe and Mr. Gardiner died of a heart attack. What person who can't breathe is able to say, "I can't breathe" four or five times? Not someone whose air supply is being manually choked off. Rather perhaps someone whose heart isn't pumping enough blood to keep his lungs working properly.

Ten Quick Facts You May Not Know About NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio

Here are ten interesting facts you may not know about New York City’s Communist Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was elected in 2013 with a whopping 72% of the vote. The leftist mayor is accused of fostering an environment that led to the tragic execution-style racial assassinations of two NYPD officers on Saturday.
Bill de Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm, Jr., on May 8, 1961. He first changed his name to the hyphenated Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm, adding his mother’s maiden name.
In 2002, he dropped the “Warren” and the “Wilhelm,” and changed his name for a second time to what it is currently, Bill de Blasio.
Bill de Blasio was the campaign manager for Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign in 2000.
Bill de Blasio was a fervent supporter of the Marxist Sandinista government in Nicaragua in the 1980′s, a government that was backed by the Communist Soviet Union and Cuba.
At the height of Cold War tension, while still a student at New York University, de Blasio toured the Communist Soviet Union in 1983.
His first job was in 1984 with the NYC Department of Juvenile Justice.
Bill de Blasio received a master’s degree in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, the same school attended by Barack Obama.
Bill de Blasio ran Democrat New York Congressman Charlie Rangel’s re-election campaign in 1994.
In 1994, Bill de Blasio married a lesbian activist, Chirlane McCray. The newlyweds honeymooned in Fidel Castro’s Communist Cuba.
In 2009, de Blasio’s election campaign to be NYC’s third “Public Advocate” was supported by the pro-Communism, Working Families Party.
Both of de Blasio’s parents were communists, leading historian Ron Radosh to describe him as a “bona fide red diaper baby.”

Ive never put a citizen at risk for any political BS... but perhaps a wakeup call to the major is necessary.. its a team effort.. and not an extremist effort

They don't "feel safe" doing their jobs? Now they know how some of the citizens feel when they see a cop.
This is nothing short of dereliction of duty orchestrated by the union. These thugs are not doing their job. NYC taxpayers are paying their salary so either they should work or not be paid. Heck, taxpayers should asked for a refund. Also and if it was doable, the same way Reagan fired the air traffic controllers, any cops that don't work should be let go.

There is a deep distrust of the police. It didn't just happened. The police is feared not respected. Respect is earned.
