Rev Sharpton stands for PROGRESS in this area, shedding light on the absurdity of this nonsense, that has been going on since Slavery. Kudos to Rev. Sharpton and what he stands for. His superior position in this area, fighting racism by whites against black people, is a noble cause, one that is superior to anything Conservatives and bigots stand for.

He makes bigots uncomfortable and this is good.

The premise is that the majority white academy purposely snubbed "actors of color"... to placate their own sense of racial superiority complex or to "pacify their own" (in the racial sense).

Your evidence for this is what? Zero. Zilch. Nothing.

It's absolutely amazing how utterly stupid Americans are when it comes to Hollywood. Listen to conservatives, and Hollywood is a Jewish cabal of multiculturalists attempting to force liberal ideas, miscegenation and the gay agenda, and destroy white people. Listen to "people of color" and it's an old club of white people attempting to secure and advance white hegemony in the movie entertainment world.

You're both wrong.

Enough with the lazy activism buzz words. Selma has a host of documented problems that doomed its chances from the start. Just because it's about MLK and has black people doesn't make it a historically accurate movie that NEEDS to be celebrated "just because."

Everyone knows the kinds of movies that the academy likes ("Oscar bait"). It was no surprise movies like "The Imitation Game" or "The Theory of Everything" were nominated. Let's talk about other offerings with "directors of color" or "actors of color" do you think should have made it this year? Maybe they should nominate the annual Madea release every year, for diversity's sake. Bonus points if Tyler Perry ever wins and accepts dressed like an old sassy black woman.

What a stupid comment...

It's not like me and you voted, it's a closed group through secret mail ballots, made up of about 5700 people....

But keep pushing racism...great job...

Hellooo, anybody home? Evidently there were no black actors performance considered good enough to be nominated, sometimes they are and sometimes they aren't, that's the way it goes. Being most actors in Hollywood are white, I would assume that it will be mostly/sometimes all whites that are nominated. You don't see white folks screaming every time a black gets nominated or even wins. Lets talk about all of the BET awards that don't even consider nominating whites, it should work both ways. If you want segregated awards, then let's have at it. Blacks wanted to be participants and it doesn't mean Blacks will always win, Get over it and quit whining about every little thing you consider a social injustice just because it didn't go your way. You are crying wolf way too often and whites are beginning to grow weary. Believe me, after meeting you on this forum, I am beginning to feel superior!

Actually, it's the group of Directors within the Academy who vote for the nominations. I believe that total is just under 400.

Emergency meeting....over a stupid awards show?! And why is it that we get these sort or comments and reactions when Black people dont get this or that or arent more noticed here or there but you rarely hear the same about asians, indians, etc etc etc?! Why the hell are so many people obsessed with having x number or x percentage of black people represented in _______?! What makes them so special?

Too much importance placed on such a trivial matter.

He won't answer you, he never does, he is a hit and run race baiter.

There sure was a lot of peaceful coexistence in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

I live in a neighborhood in Northern Virginia that is about 50% white and 50%
Asian. There is very little crime and everyone seems to get along in all social
aspects. There is frequent dating between the two races as well.

Blacks have been in this country a lot longer than Southeast Asians and they
just don't seem to want to assimilate into American culture --- they want to
have their own subculture with it's own rules.

Makes no sense to me!

It was whites who set up the black "subculture." Funny that blacks were legally and socially prohibited from any but the most cursory contacts with whites for the best part of 400 years, but when 1970 rolls around, suddenly blacks "don't want to assimilate."

Please learn some history.

Amazing how "racist" Hollywood got since 2013 where there were ethnic nominees left and right.....and 12-years a slave had nominees in 5 of the 6 major categories and winners in many of those.

Really, this crying wolf sh*t has gotten seriously old.

I'd show up at Al's meeting and give him the finger for such an insulting accusation.

So the academy should have nominated a black person to be "diverse", even though they might not have been deemed worthy?

Yea, that's not racist at all......
