I'm catholic, went to catholic schools and went to church several times a week. A good christian should accept everyone as taught by god because we are all gods children. That's what we were taught by the nuns. Are you saying they were wrong
Accept and support are two different things. The Catholic might accept but to be part of the ceremony from being in a wedding party to baking a cake for others, to support, is taught against by the Bishops.
i see two points
1) i approval for the fact more mono type relationships
2) disapprove only on the fact I don't think government should be involved with marriage at all, any marriage. let the church handle it

So what you are saying is that within the catholic church nuns and bishops didn't agree on this? How is this possible
States cannot violate the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.
Which is why the 14th Amendment needs to be repealed since it is in conflict with the 10th.
Then, there is what does "equal protection" mean? Is it supposed to mean anyone over 18 can marry anyone else over 18 and if you deny them, they are not equally protected?
How is it from the 1860's until just now, no one thought that applied to marriage by same sex people?

At one time people thought that those that wanted an interracial marriage shouldn't be allowed too, but now that is perfectly legal.

So it should be up to a church whether a couple that included at least one jew should be able to get married? Or a couple with at least one muslim? Or a couple with at least one atheist?
No. Just no.
The state is involved, because it is the state that supports the rights and enforces the responsibilities that marriage entails.
Or do you think that churches should be the entities supporting the legal rights and enforcing the legal responsibilities that marriage entails?

I am saying the OP said "support", you returned with nuns say "accept". They are two different things, the Bishops will teach you to accept your gay friend or child but not to support them by attending a wedding ceremony. You are only to back down in that son or daughters case to avoid totally cutting him off for first engaging in a civil court marriage or in a marriage ceremony with a religious official of another sect, in which case the marriage would not be "valid" for other reasons even before you get to marrying someone of the same sex.
Because many believe sex between to males or females is a sin; plain and simple. Other just believe marriage is between a man and woman for procreation and raising children.

And? What one believes is a sin or not shouldn't be what decides a law. We do not live under any religious law.
