What exactly did Affleck do wrong? I don't believe he owns or has ever owned any slaves.
Do you understand "reparations"?
This thread may be "much ado about nothing" but I don't get your fierce defense of Affleck. If he really is planning to go into politics, this incident may come back to haunt him more than a revelation about a slave-owning gggf.

Well you are correct, though I don't understand everyone else's need to make this sound like Affleck did a horrible things or whatever.

I have a very liberal friend find out recently that his family figured prominently in The Crusades 1000 years ago. He was clearly upset at the discovery. Liberals can be such tools when it comes to this type of stuff.
Me? I'm descended from Irish horse thieves and the pirate Jean Lafitte, I think it's hilarious. Of course, I am not a liberal so I guess that helps.
Why does being liberal have to do being ashamed for what your ancestors do? It is laughable what certain people say just to try bashing the other side of the political side.
If you want to play that game, let's do that.
I am liberal. My great grandfather was involved in the Chinese massacre during world war II perpetrated by Japanese.
I am not ashamed of it because that is the fact that cannot be changed.
The past is in the past, and the most important thing is that I am not doing the same thing that he did.
Mr. Affleck has done quite well in his chosen industry and it is hard to argue with success- he did win an Oscar for a screenplay that was largely plagarized though. Still, he has done well and you cannot fault the man's choice of spouse. Hubba hubba....
That success does not seem to transfer when he states his POV on things. Comes across as a bit daft.
Ben! My ancestors were starved out of Ireland. But today's (and even Yesterday's) Brits have nothing to do with it! Get over yourself!
He is so silly to care that much about distant probably 3rd great grandparents lol.
