If they've been causing trouble, deport them and warn that if they try and come back, they must do so legally.

Like I said, all of our policy seems to be about catching the immigrants and not about fixing the system. I know we can create jobs that shouldn't exist by having people try to find illegal immigrants, but a smarter solution (if the government's capable of one) would have better long term results.
Anyone who illegally sneaks across the border or overstays a visa, has "ill intentions". After all, doing either one is not some noble, altruistic act by any means.

You also know that border jumpers and visa overstayers end up committing even more crimes in order to stay here. It's illegal for them to work but yet they do. Many of them, in order to work, commit ID theft or use a fake SSN---neither of which is a victimless crime. Or they get paid under the table, thus engaging in tax evasion. Some of them, in order to get to work, think nothing about driving without a license which has resulted in deadly accidents.

And you want to reward this behavior by letting them apply for citizenship?

Does anyone think the illegal immigrants will care, or even know, that they will spend 5 years in prison if they are caught re-entering after being deported?

And if they do know, did anyone think that prison in America might be more appealing to them then living in their own country?

The turtle needs to retire already. He's stealing money.

Of course they'll know and care about the possiblilty of going to jail. And don't believe the propaganda that illegals are living in such miserable conditions in their homelands that even life in an American jail would be preferable.

Do you think his proposal is financially sound?

I do not.

The OP is incorrect. This is coming from Bill O'Reilly not from Mitch McConnell. McConnell is not proposing this, O'Reilly is.

There are a lot of sanctuary cities. The reasons for their existence does not seem worth the shelter they give criminals. Why haven't people been screaming about this?

Sanctuary city, sanctuary, sanctuary cities, sanctuary city list, list of sanctuary cities, list, Ohio, jobs, OJJPAC, justice, illegal alien, immigration, amnesty, undocumented, ICE, NYC, IIRIRA, Huston, Chicago, Phoenix, Steve Salvi

A figure I read like 10 minutes ago quoted I believe $136 a day since its federal prisons..

I say we fine the **** out of businesses hiring them and abolish any and all subsidies to reduce the incentive to come here.

Yes, this whole illegal immigration thing is lawless.

Quote:
July 14, 2010: Obama Administration Ignores Dangerous Sanctuary City Policies

Less than a week after suing Arizona to block its immigration law, the Department of Justice announces that it will not take legal action against sanctuary cities, with a spokeswoman stating: “There is a big difference between a state or locality saying they are not going to use their resources to enforce a federal law, as so-called sanctuary cities have done, and a state passing its own immigration policy that actively interferes with federal law.”
So state and localities only have to "use their resources" to enforce federal laws Obama agrees with and not enforce ones he doesn't. Lawless.

That would make more sense, sounds like one of the stupid ideas O'Reilly comes up with.
