^^Thanks. I recalled something like that, but it's been a while since I filled out such a form.

Not if they were born before 1957 which I believe is around 76 Million people.

And those people do not need to be vaccinated, as you well know. However, all those people had to get sick, some of them have permanent disabilities from the infection, and some who got sick died, so they are not in that 76 million people.

The measles vaccine is about 97% effective, so it is no longer necessary to get sick from measles, as long as everyone who does not have a medical contraindication to the vaccine takes it. Herd immunity will then hold, protecting those for whom the vaccine does not work and those who cannot take it.

And some of those folks are not immune, either. A 70 year old was one of the measles cases at Disney. Either s/he escaped the disease, or his/her immunity didn't hold. That person would have been born in 1944 or 45.

All good then, since most of the country is vaccinated against measles, we can move on to addressing more pressing issues. This is not worthy of concern in 2016. There are a thousand issues ahead of it if saving lives are a concern.
Unless of course it's about something else......

Ah, you read my mind. If the elderly have such weakened immune systems simply because of their age, do they still have immunity to all these childhood diseases they had 50+ years ago????? Next. Grandpa, roll up your sleeve for your MMR vaccination. It cannot hurt, RIGHT? That the CDC will eventually say that to "save lives", and sell more vaccines, would not surprise me.

I probably should not say this. The pro-vaccine Nervous Nellies and Nicks will be demanding the old folks too must get every vaccine under the sun that the children need to get.

The Disney outbreak, while small in absolute numbers, showed a crack in herd immunity. We need to remain ever vigilant. For community immunity to work for measles, there has to be a 90+% immunization rate. There are school in many states, probably every state, where the rate is 50% or less.

Measles is a serious disease, despite what many anti-vaxers will tell you.

Come on, Katrina, you know you do not have a 90% immunization rate of ALL Americans for ANYTHING right now. Mandating little children's vaccinations won't give you your precious Herd Immunity, and you KNOW it. Was Measles eradicated from the entire world? Hey, how many people whose vaccinations did not work, or horror, have waning adult immunity, will get on a plane and catch a disease from overseas? You are living in a dream world.

FYI, my last DIPTHERIA vaccination was in the 50s. Childhood vaccination! Problem SOLVED! I can get on a plane tomorrow and go anywhere in the world!

Go ahead. DEMAND and legislate your childhood vaccinations to solve all the problems. I will go about my merry way. You cannot see the forest for the trees.

No, measles has not yet been eradicated from the entire world, but smallpox has been and polio is getting close. We have a chance at measles, too, b/c there is only a human reservoir. And my name is not Katrina.

Which is exactly why infants are going to start dying of those illnesses again in larger numbers if we don't catch up on vaccinations.
