Yeah. I'm sure glad all of those southerners who called themselves Democrats back then deflected to the GOP because they were against Civil Rights. You guys can keep 'em.
Republicans dominated National politics from the end of the Civil War until the early 30's. They weren't exactly spearing a load of change themselves. If you stand around and allow something to happen when you have the power to change it then you are just as culpable.

Add to that abortion wasn't legal, gays couldn't have a traditional marriage, immigrants assimilated into our society, much less illegal immigration, far less national debt, people were working not living off of welfare, most women weren't having babies out of wedlock, etc. I am sure there are many more but these are the ones that come to mind.
Many of what you list indicate a very superficial knowledge of the times. Guess you missed the back-room abortions with coat hangers.

I'm pretty sure you could get a photo today of a family around a dinner table, or kids respectfully saying the pledge of allegiance (there might be more diversity and kids might be wearing more casual clothes.)
How do you know the guy hung and the one being attacked by the dog didn't commit a crime? Would you rather have it nowadays where murderers sit on death row for 30 years? I think quick and efficient was better.
Emmitt Till was the last official black victim of a lynching. It happened in 1955. He was fifteen and his "crime" was that he didn't show proper respect to a white girl. Being that he was visiting from the North, he didn't realize that was a lynching offense in the South.
