It wasn't his fault; at the time, he really thought it might be true. The insurance companies who wrote the legislation for him hadn't finished writing it yet.

He knew what the end game was. He made the statement aware that once the legislation was passed, the policies that many favored and wanted to keep would no longer be viable, would be dropped by the insurance companies or priced beyond the reach of almost everyone, and the masses would be forced into the available policies which offer less at a much higher cost for those who actually pull their own weight in society.
While he technically didn't lie at the moment he made that statement, he sure as hell knew he wasn't telling the truth about what would be once the dust settled.

Last year we had a PPO and this year we are on an HMO. It did not affect us that much because we use the same doctors for both plans - but it could have if we did not.
What has affected us is that my wife's primary asthma medication's copay went up 250%. I am curious how many others have been hit with hefty new co-pays?

One of my daily meds used to cost me $10 for a month's supply. That's now at $128 for the same supply.
Do you honestly think that what you just said is logically sound?
Obama didn't say that if the poster named "Boss" liked his plan, doctor, and company he could keep them. He said "everyone" could.
Was that true? No. Did you know that the Obama campaign actually debated the merits and drawbacks to telling the truth. Must have been a real tough choice choosing to lie for votes.

What I also don't get is that some areas of my State still have PPO's and we are forced into the HMO plan. It doesn't sound fair; it isn't uniform.
My wife's Smybicort went from $39/mo last year to $100/mo copay this year. What I do not know is if these medications have gone up in price or if it is simply the co-pay that increased? If the medications have gone up in price we will be hit two ways: First with the higher co-pay and secondly when we hit the donut-hole sooner. For anybody that does not know what the donut-hole is: it is when we hit the maximum amount that Medicare will pay and have to dig deeper into our own pockets. That 'hole' last for so long and then another program kicks in to help pay.
