It wasn't his fault; at the time, he really thought it might be true. The insurance companies who wrote the legislation for him hadn't finished writing it yet.
There has never been a plan that did not change over time.
MDs and hospitals opt in/ out of networks all the time.
Employers were and remain free to change plans every year.
Politicians are not insurance experts.
That's obvious when you hear politicians talking about how they are going to wave their magic wand and allow insurers to sell healthcare insurance across state lines which is being touted as increasing competition and lowering premiums.
Nothing in the ACA precludes insurers from selling across state lines. 6 states allow it. Thus far there are no takers. Each states regulates in state insurers and decides what services/ medications must be included.

Last year we had a PPO and this year we are on an HMO. It did not affect us that much because we use the same doctors for both plans - but it could have if we did not.
What has affected us is that my wife's primary asthma medication's copay went up 250%. I am curious how many others have been hit with hefty new co-pays?
Yep, had a minor surgery that would have cost me my original $500 deductable, ended up costing 5k plus.

Fortunately I'm in a position to do so, but I'm aware that many others may not be without making significant sacrifices or hard choices on what goes unpaid or skipped altogether. The only ones benefitting from this while fiasco seem to be those who were uninsured before and are now getting something for free while the rest of us pay for it.

Oh really? Pre existing conditions are now covered. Scores of people benefit from that. And if your plan sucks, change it instead of complaining incessantly.
