having dirt and pine needles shoved up her vagina behind a dirty dumpster with a complete stranger.
Whoah...I missed this part of the trial. Where was it mentioned that she had dirt and pine needles shoved in her vagina? I though it was just his fingers?
Does anyone have a picture of the crime scene? I keep hearing about the "rape" behind a dumpster with dirt and pine needles. I have never seen a dumpster on a dirt patch in the middle of pine trees before. I am trying to picture it.

One more time, in public news, I learned that my ass and vagina were completely exposed outside, my breasts had been groped, fingers had been jabbed inside me along with pine needles and debris, my bare skin and head had been rubbing against the ground behind a dumpster, while an erect freshman was humping my half naked, unconscious body. But I don’t remember, so how do I prove I didn’t like it.

Why would there be pine trees? My assumption is that pine straw was used in landscaping. As you can see from the victim's letter linked to above, she was found with pine needles in her vagina, as well as covering her hair when she arrived at the hospital.
I think *we*, you and I and many on this thread, do treat rape as a serious crime. I think most treat rape as a serious crime when it preys on our worst fears - waking up with a strange man in your bedroom, being pulled off the street into an alley, an empty parking garage staircase, being drugged, etc.
Society and systems start to break down in less Law and Order: SVU type cases. Even Brock's female friend wrote, "But where do we draw the line and stop worrying about being politically correct every second of the day and see that rape on campuses isn't always because people are rapists." We've all latched onto the Brock Turner case, but in reality, this story plays out in tons of other cases. If she had just been drunk but not unconscious, we'd have even more people claiming that yes, she enthusiastically consented to having dirt and pine needles shoved up her vagina behind a dirty dumpster with a complete stranger.
Agree in general, but I sure wish people would stop blaming everything on being "politically correct."
Associating the effort to be politically correct (AKA civil) with the likes of sexual assault crimes is like suggesting we can't be civil to one another without increasing the risk of allowing another rape.

Quite simply, there are pine trees on the Stanford campus. Why suspect otherwise?

If you Google "Scary path and Stanford" there are plenty of photos of terrain very similar to that where the incident occurred. (The actual site was only a tenth of a mile away from the path.) It's an unlighted, unpaved shortcut that connects the fraternity houses to the main campus.

I am guessing some pine trees get very tall and disperse their needles all over the place. I have never seen a dumpster on a clean surface before. I would expect dirt as well as other debris all around it. Not hard to imagine if you really think about it. It's not like the trash in your kitchen.

I should have said, "Why would there HAVE to be pine trees?" There's lots of places that don't have pine trees anywhere nearby but have pine needles in quantity. I was responding to someone saying he's never seen a dumpster near pine trees - the pine trees wouldn't be necessary either way.
