That would be because they are the most vocal about being "mistreated or oppressed".

Most white people don't hate blacks any more than the other way around. White people mostly get tired of the Victim mentality no matter what race you are.

Black Americans are not the only oppressed group in the US, dont know why some act like we are. Puerto Ricans and Native Americans are also heavily oppressed, just as much as us southern US slave descendant blacks (had to separate us from Caribbean/African immigrants, they aren't as oppressed as us, Ricans and Natives are da only groups that are just as oppressed as us), in every category too.

Second dumbest thing I've read on this thread. You are attempting to escape from your personal responsibility for your own damn life. No white who is alive today is responsible for slavery. No black person born and raised in America has EVER suffered from slavery.

YOU, and every other person on here, and throughout the world, no matter what damn race they are, is responsible for THEIR OWN life. You take responsibility for any failures you have. Do "minorities" give white people credit when they succeed? HELL NO, so you, and everyone else, take it all on yourself.. You take the good and the bad that YOU brought upon yourself with YOUR own actions and YOUR own choices.

PERIOD.

As a black person, I get tired of hearing - ad nauseam - how oppressed I am because I'm black. It's a worn out discussion point and adds nothing of value to any race conversation. Much of what I see of the unfavorable condition a lot of black people find themselves in today is because of their own bad choices. This is not to dismiss racism and discrimination as challenges that hinder some black people in some regard, but there is a bit of exaggeration when we talk about what's hindering black progress in America in the 21st century.

Much of what made me who I am probably has to do with my family structure. My parents have been married for almost 40 years and my grandparents (both sets) had been married over 60 years before they passed. I come from a tight-knit family. I had a stern father who reminded me that I was largely responsible for my successes and failures. Unfortunately, the reality is that there are far too many black people who lack that direct influence in their life offering up such a perspective. Far too many of us don't have parents who can offer the right guidance and mentorship. So, here we are. In a place where too many of us see obstacles instead of opportunities.

That's the problem I have with this constant reminder that I'm oppressed, at a disadvantage, a perpetual victim in this country. I'd rather see the opportunities - of which there are many - than the obstacles, many of which I believe are exaggerated. This victim mentality is as dangerous as it is alluring. If we are not willing to take significantly more ownership of the responsibility for our condition, our complicity in our condition, we are slowly cementing our demise.

You are correct, but many blacks still think racism is a HUGE problem. And their perception is their reality. That is the problem that needs to be solved.
