No there was not. This has been covered over and over. The other avenues were exhausted. Those who tried before Snowden were attacked by the government.

Before Snowden: The Whistleblowers Who Tried To Lift The Veil : NPR

When asked the government lied. They lied under oath. When do you suppose there will be prosecutions for perjury?

Everything was tried. The only option left was to release the proof.

I think Snowden did release too much information, but I suppose if he had released less, the importance of what was there may have been missed. I do think he should be pardoned, but I also don't think everything he did was right.

If it was me, I would pardon him, welcome him to come home, but I wouldn't meet with him.

I have no idea, probably never. This thread is about Snowden and his actions, not Clapper.

No, you can not discuss one without the other and I understand your (and so many others) reluctance to. The reason the information had to be released publicly is because the government lied. The many attempts to release this information through "proper" channels met with attacks on those who tried and lies under oath to Congress. Did Congress take actions on those lies? No, because they supported them.

What was done was the only option left and we should note, the courts have sided not with the government over these actions.

Obama's refusal to pardon Snowden, or Chelsea Manning or even the kid who took photo's of the submarine speaks volumes about his character.

Yet, he would pardon Hillary in a heartbeat.

I saw where he lied (not surprising) about why he could not pardon Snowden. The guy can't be honest about anything.

I can't see Obama pardoning snowden. Why would he? Do you seriously think Obama was pleased about what snowden did?
