The question is should Obama Pardon Edward Snowden. I don't think he should be Pardoned because he was never brought to justice what he did may have been right or wrong.
As last-minute pardons go, this would be far from the most heinous. Yes Snowden broke the law, but he also exposed our "big brother" government for what it's been doing. Snowden is an excellent fit because he a lot of people see him as a hero for exposing government corruption and illegal monitoring activities.

I have my doubts that Russia will ever let the man leave regardless of what Obama does.

The past presidents pardon's have never been for anyone on the lamb especially someone who has been hiding in Russia. I would be really surprised if Obama pardon's him due to the fact he ran from facing a court. I think Bradley Manning has a much better chance of getting a pardon then Snowden if they ever want to Pardon someone who released classified documents.

That said, while I clicked yes that doesn't really get it. There should be no reason to have to pardon him.

Whistleblowers are suppose to be protected from prosecution. Those who ignore our laws are the ones that should he facing this question.
Excellent, excellent point!

Snowden should be pardoned, but I can't imagine Obama pardoning him. Bernie might have. But all the hoopla over "protecting whistleblowers" is a crock. They have no intention of protecting them.

This obama guy has taken some of the worst attributes of past administrations (and rulers in general) and doubled down on them. Oh but the masses remain easily fooled and applaud the hipster tyrant in blackface.

Since Barack Obama entered the White House in 2009, his government has waged a war against whistleblowers and official leakers. On his watch, there have been eight prosecutions under the 1917 Espionage Act – more than double those under all previous presidents combined.
And yet other apparent leaks have gone entirely unpunished or have been treated, as in the case of General David Petraeus, as misdemeanors. As Abbe Lowell, lawyer for one of the Espionage Act eight, Stephen Kim, has argued in a letter to the Department of Justice, low-level officials who lack the political connections to fight back have had the book thrown at them, while high-level figures have been allowed to leak with “virtual impunity”.

He didn't just blow the whistle, however.

He willingly handed classified information over to foreign governments. That's treason.

No he didn't. And whistleblowers wouldn't have to be scared and flee if we demanded the government they are exposing would quit trying to ruin the lives who expose their actions.

Releasing classified info to the public domain is exactly the same thing. You think foreign governments didn't read it? What has he given Russia in return for asylum?

This goes well beyond "whistle blowing". Well beyond.
