Of course, I will always be there for this child and that is something that is clearly expressed in words and deed. Just say that this is truly a painful time to be a parent to a child who is struggling with life. The issue is not their orientation or gender choices, it is more about how those declarations seem to be the sole and preoccupying forces in their life right now. I have a brother who succumbed to schizophrenia at 19 and although I preached against smoking pot, I have learned that this kid has smoked extensively. So my fear is more that there are underlying mental issues that are not being addressed, because the focus is now on transgender activism and not on what it means to have a healthy mental outlook and how important it is to develop all the facets of your personality and talents instead of the constant focus on one facet. I know that this is a really hard time in the parent/child relationship and I am a strong believer in giving a child support during their push for independence, but it really hurts when you see that the struggle is not moving your child in a direction where you can feel that they will have a safe and happy future.
Thank you. I understand exactly what you are saying - and how it must hurt. It is indeed very scary to watch and know there is little to nothing you can do to help. My heart goes out to you .. been there, done that. May time bring you all some peace.
I am saddened that so many here seem to have ignored the question (which I thought was just a statement that you could/would/would not/etc. accept a child who declared they were not heterosexual) and chose just to attack people who were nice enough to give honest answers. I certainly didn't understand that to be the purpose of this thread at all - to convert those who see things differently for their own reasons .. and certainly not to attack those who are going through really tough times as they watch loved ones struggle with these issues. How unfriendly of those of you who would do that!

If Jesus said that he came not to do away with the law, but to fulfill it. Seems to me that he was endorsing the WORD of God and the LAW of God, which includes Leviticus. But again, I am not a Christian, nor a Theologist.
I'm not talking about what Jesus did or did not say or do. I'm talking about man's manipulation and interpretation that led to the Bible we hold in our hands today.

We are at a point in time, where being transgendered is being pushed as being acceptable, but what about other trans movements, like trans-speciesm and trans-racialism? Would you accept your son telling you he was a girl over him telling you that he was a dog or that he now identified as a Korean pop star? If not, then ask yourself why you should accept his claims that he suddenly has become a female?
As parents, we are supposed to offer guidance to our children, not indulge their delusions. Maybe your son wanted to become an amputee (a real condition). Would you support his decision to cut off his arm or would you try to convince him that he needed to get help and that mutilating his body wasn't healthy or normal?
Are you saying two consenting adults cannot consent to do each other harm?
Nope. Please don't play the dumbass "are you saying...?" game as a vehicle to make it look as though I said something other than what I did. It's an immature and tiresome old trick.
