Whether or not Russia is an ally depends on the nature of US geo-political strategy.

If you want to continue on the path of murder, destruction, and the funding of fundamentalist groups, than Russia is not an ally.

For example, it was imperative for the last administration, in particular, your blood thirsty secretary of state, to oust Russia out of Syria to gain complete hegemony in the region, so that the US can continue stealing without obstruction.

Why are we in Syria? Because Assad rejected the petro-dollar. Qatar and Iran share the largest gas field in the world. Qatar, a US ally, approached Assad with a deal where a pipeline would be run from Qatar, through Saudi Arabia, and through Syria, to be offloaded in Turkey and sold in USD.

In contrast, the Iranian's deal would run the pipeline through northern Iraq and offloaded in Syria, with the help of the Russians for development. Assad took this deal. Of course, it is highly unlikely that the product will be sold in USD, which is exactly why the US decided to intervene in Syria.

Additionally, the intention was to remove the Russians from the region, since Russia has a forward operating base in Syria.

It managed to do this two ways. Kerry had a meeting with Saudi's just prior to massive production increases, with the likely intention of destroying Russian's economy. It worked in the sense that the ruble, which is highly correlated to the broad oil index depreciated at roughly the same rate as crude.

Unfortunately, the US underestimated the Russian's resiliency, as the "Russian problem" did not go away. Worse, the dollar is highly inversely correlated with the broad oil index, which means the dollar appreciated in value by roughly the same percentage that crude depreciated.

Why is this important? For one, it makes it more difficult for US exporters to sell their products. Two, the Russians pay their debt in rubles, but they sell oil in USD. What does this mean? It means Russian oil giant Rosneft is profiting, resulting in a record high stock price.

Now, because of the idiotic foreign policy of your last several administrations, and in particular the boneheaded Kerry move, you now have a massive liquidity crises on the horizon due to the inability for your tight oil producers to make a profit. It's not just the approximately $500 billion high yield energy loans at stake, or the entire $1.9 trillion junk bond market, but the trillions of dollars of derivatives designed to mitigate risk, that will actually likely be the catalyst to crashing the entire financial system.

Russia is only your enemy if American's want to continue on the same path to their inevitable destruction by forcing the petro-dollar on the world market. The problem is that if US citizens grow a heart or a brain or whatever they need to grow in order for them to not support murder, eventually the demand for USD will go down, resulting in significant inflation if the US doesn't learn to handle its debt problem.

So yes, Russia is an enemy if you support murder and destruction because you want to continue an unsustainable lifestyle that requires at least 5.5 earth's worth of resources to sustain.
Excellent.

Despite what the left thing s about Trump and Russia, We share some common Security Issues. Having a relationship with anther Super Power is critical.. Could we have the Relationship like we have with the UK?
Probably not.

Obama had no respect with Putin or even HRC. So we lost ground in using other Nations to help us in these issues.

The damage that the Obama Administration is repairable. Peace Thru strength! Something Obama never understood.

Russia was an ally of the US in the WWII, and despite Gen. Patton's personal dislike and distrust of them, peace was maintained. Previous US presidents were friendly to Russia until Obama and Clinton reset it.

No one is calling for WWIII, but we need to recognize that Russia is a hostile nation that belongs under sanction.
You're going to sanction Russia for defending itself against US aggression? That makes lots of sense.

Uh, no, it won't.

We quickly defeated the Iraqis in 1990, because we had spy and surveillance satellites parked over Iraq monitoring troop movements and locations. That gave the US a decisive advantage, since the US always knew where Iraqi units were located, but the Iraqis never knew where US units were located until they were fired upon by US units.

The US had a clear technological advantage over Iraq, but not over Russia.

How about you just stop harassing Russia?

Russia knows the US is hell-bent on gaining control of Syria, Yemen, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, plus the Russian republics of Altai, Tuva, Buryatia, Khakassia, Sakha and the Far Eastern Republic and setting up US-backed puppet governments.

What would you have the Russians do? Go sit in a corner and sulk, while the US carries out its Geo-Strategic Plans?

Not gonna happen. The Russians are going to counter every move by the US and solidify its relations with the affected countries.

Three countries. Obama used military action in Libya and then armed rebels in Syria and Yemen to overthrow those governments.

Four countries, if you count Obama's overthrow of the Tunisian government.

Five countries, if you count Obama's overthrow of the Honduran government.

Six countries, if Obama really was responsible for the Ukrainian "revolution" in 2014.

"Why don't Trump supporters recognize that Russia is not an ally?"

The media is not your friend. I'm a Trump supporter and I'm well aware that Russia is not an ally, far from it.

Yea, Russia is doing exactly what the US did, but it is wrong.
