I think it's partially because the moderate Republicans (in the House) are the ones who are most vulnerable because they generally come from swing districts. The Freedom Caucus people are the ones who come from districts that are like virtually 100% Republican (ie: very rural and very, very White).
The biggest irony of all this though is that passing this bill will give the Democrats a ridiculous amount of ammo for the 2018 midterms. Ryan is worried about the Freedom Caucus but he's completely ignoring the possibility of a 2006 style Democratic surge next year. I predict the Republican majority in the House will be down into the single digits come January 2019 ... and it will be a literal standstill, NOTHING will be done. Oh and Ryan will likely lose his speakership to one of the lunatics.
So if the speaker comes out of the left, even if they are moderate, they are lunatics? I love how there is absolutely no middle ground from the right when it comes to people that live on the left no matter how liberal they may or may not be.

That's absolutely NOT what I am saying, what I am saying is that the Freedom Caucus is basically holding the Republican Party hostage to far right dogma.
I would love to see a moderate/centrist Speaker of the House ... that person just isn't Nancy Pelosi. I am referring to someone like Charlie Dent or Pete King (minus the Muslim hunts).
Higher interest rates don't bode well for the markets, typically. And a stronger USD as a result is certainly not the best cure for Trumpsters lack of jobs and wage inflation.
It's not bad enough that Trump is all twitchy wondering what the FBI/NSA have on him, but to get anything accomplished, he has to work with Republicans who are finally being forced to govern, which is putting the "ugly dysfunction and unpopularity of their ideology" on full view for all to see.
Why would anyone 50-65 yrs. old support this bill? If you lose your job or can't work, for some reason, and have pre-existing, you will pay very high premiums.
They will have to set up rules as they have for food assistance in many states. If they want people off they will make the rules difficult to adhere to. This happened with welfare to work under Clinton, they had transportation problems, could not physically do the jobs, etc.
exactly, and what do they do with people who are on medicaid because they are drawing unemployment or are temporarily disabled? Are they going to do physical exams on people who are off work due to an injury, ad since drawing unemployment already has a work search requirement are they going to add an additional one, or perhaps force recipients to do volunteer labor?
Ironically, they're more likely to lose their seats if they pass it, yet Trump is threatening they will lose their seats if they don't. Repubs are screwed either way. They've had 7 years to come up with a good plan, and they throw out this dumpster fire.

Most 50-65 year olds vote Republican and when have they ever voted in their best interests?
