If the state spent as much time dealing with people who actually commit serious crimes instead of making millions of average citizens criminals and if you don't want to be a criminal you have your property confiscated without compensation.
The enhancement is still on the books, the judge doesn't have to impose it. The same thing happened with 3 strikes not long after it was passed, a judge had the discretion of not imposing a prior strike.

And your rant about gun accessories really has nothing to do with this issue.

No one is saying the teachers must carry. You must have missed that part.

The reason the people want manadatpry sentencing is because judges have given too lienient of sentences or DA's have been a bargained down to an unacceptable level for a violent crime.

Making criminals out of millions of people for owning a magazine while reducing the sentences of a feline who uses a gun in a crime has very bearing in this conversation. It points to the true notive of anti gun politicians in California. To restrict the right for everyone while being lenient to criminals who actually hurt others.

A person with a CCW permit is the safest person in America statistically, they commit fewer Crimes than even police officers. States that have gone permit less carry have zero negative statistical impacts. Over the last decade as ccw rates rise across the nation violent crime continues to fall.

statistically means nothing when you are talking about allowing guns in elementary classrooms, particularly when 'training' in California for a CCW is determined by the state "NOT to exceed 16 hours". If some teacher with no weapons training outside of that required by a CCW showed up in my grandson's kindergarten class packing, I would home school him.

Why don't you park the 2a argument for a minute and think how absolutely stupid this idea is, or if you don't believe me, go to a public range, or a local gun store and meet some of those CCW permit carriers, a good number of them are over 80 can't see or hear and can barely walk and still got a CCW.

I've worked in law enforcement in two different counties and in both of them a CCW permit was issued on who you know not what you know or if you really needed one and my guess is that it works that way throughout most of the state. We had one guy who was so old and messed up he could hardly hold the gun, our range master was told to make sure he passed even if he had to poke pencil holes through the target. Another guy, a Pakistani, naturalized citizen applied every year and was turned down, he wanted a CCW because he had to carry cash to the bank and was in a dangerous part of town, there was never an explanation for his denial, my guess is he didn't donate any money to the 'right people'.

Where are all these lenient judges you're so worried about? I've never met one of them. Criminal court judges almost always sentence based on the recommendation of the Probation department and the Prosecutor's input. If you are somewhere with consistently lenient judges and they are elected you probably should start a campaign to replace them. If they are appointed, pressure the head judge to move them to family or civil court.

So your argument against teachers being allowed to carry a gun in school if they have a ccw permit is the sherif is a political hack that sells licenses to the highest bidder? If that is the case you should be pushing for shall issue laws that remove the "discretion" of the political elite and ensure parity for all citizens.

How is being able to pass a live fire excersize not enough proof one is capable to carry concealed? It is all that is required for police to qualify every 6 months. If I, or in this case, the teachers pass the same shooting test as the police why shouldn't they be given a CCW permit?

Are you saying mandatory sentencing laws were made up out of thin air and not to fill a need of light sentencing? In Colorado the governor is pardoning people of crimes so they won't get deported, same with judges in various states hiding criminals from ICE.

Sitting judges are almost never replaced, they won't even be challenged as it is suicide for the attorney practicing in that court to run against a sitting judge.

If you think sentencing won't change by removing the mandatory sentencing guidelines then you would have zero problem with keeping the mandatory guidelines since sentencing would not change.

Why would anyone want a reduced sentence for a person convicted of using a gun in the commission of a felony?

To those who support this change in banning teachers from acquiring a ccw if they so choose and carrying it school. What has specifically happened in the past that shows that the current status quo is an actual problem that needs to be addressed? When has a student taken a teachers gun away from them and used it to harm themselves or someone else? When has a teacher used said gun to harm themselves or the children? Justify why this is needed with actual events and no "blood in the streets" hyperbole.
