I hate ISIS, but we need to get out of the Middle East- period. Let the loonies fight among themselves, and worry about protecting our borders. Lets mind our own business. We cannot change the ignorance and hate that is ingrained in that part of the world- not worth losing one more soldier, or killing any innocents.

Or Tokyo, Hamburg...

Note: Stop killing off strongmen: It only makes things worse.

Yes agreed.

One of the tactics of Asymmetrical war is to hype the fear. A perfect example is when the press released the Abu Ghraib mess. It had already been dealt with by the American military more than two months previously, and most of those guilty had been arrested and charged under the UCMJ, but the press released it as if nothing had been done. That led to the beheading of Nick Berg who had nothing to do with it in retaliation.

Face it, a terrorist organization does not care about minor things like what a legal military organization is allowed to do.

As for a proper legal military, look at the attacks under Shock and Awe. Were civilians killed, yes, certainly. Were they killed because they were civilians? No way in hell.

As to how many civilians are killed, during the Gulf War, the US had worked out how many civilians would be killed, and was within five percent.

Terrorists will never be eliminated. They killed most Muslims. Maybe we should mind our own business, so we don't become the target.

No one will retaliate for that either right?
When we blew up the hospital in Afghanistan we were told that there were snipers there also.........but there wasn't. So as far as we know they were killed for no reason.

"We" is anyone on our side or that we're giving significant support to.

Their decisions and actions reflect on us, for better or worse.

In order to strike a terrorist, you have to know where he will be at a point in time in the future.

Terrorist leaders spend most of their time at home. The location intelligence will be able to place them with reliability will be at home. You can't find them when they're out on move doing "terrorist stuff"--you'll find them at home with their feet up...and surrounded by family.

Now back in WWII, the Allies would have bombed the entire city. Today's smart munitions allow us to at least restrict the casualties to, say, a single sedan or the living room.
Agreed. The technology has reduced the innocent death count.
Like the "imaging" on the Somali pirates and taking them out with snipers while the hostage was unharmed.

As far as family, the innocents are the kids imo. The adults know whats going on and being there has big risks.

No we don't. That's why we use drones as opposed to troops. If it had been 100 American troops killed then people would get upset and start having second thoughts about all of this. As long as they are innocent Iraqi's or Afghan's or Syrians we can excuse it away.

They are no different than you or I.

Agreed
Plus If there are snipers in a hospital in America, we don't blow them up. Only over there.

So what do we do, send someone into the building looking for booby traps and civilians before a bomb is dropped? It is what it is and these so-called innocents are part of the problem. They allow this crap to happen and do nothing about it because they are either supporters or scared. Sucks to be them I guess.
