This is not in the best interest of the United States. I don't think PR should be allowed to become a state without all of our consent. We should be allowed to vote on whether or not we want PR.

If PR becomes a state, what's to stop all the other U.S territories?

We have to pressure congress to stop this!
Why not? There are only 5 populated US Territories.
If too small then make them part of an existing state - ie Guam, American Samoa and Mariana to Hawaii.
No second class citizens.

American Samoa - 55,519
Guam - 159,358
Northern Mariana Islands - 77,000
Puerto Rico - 3.667,084
United States Virgin Islands - 106,405

Puerto Rico in 2017 is little different than Miami, FL or Brentwood, NY or any other heavily Hispanic community. Yes, Spanish is the default language (oh noes! ) but most people are bilingual. I know it might sound scary to someone who lives in a 99% White small town in the middle of nowhere but it's really not that alien a concept to anyone who lives in a major metro area.
^^^^This comes from someone who talks about "white trash states". It turns out that you are the bigoted one. There are still many people up in the mountains who don't speak English.

No. Colonialism is wrong! They all should have been independent a long time ago, especially Puerto Rico.

None of those nations have anything of value to add to the United States. They would only drag us down further.

Did I say that I would deny them statehood? Answer---I said no such thing.

If the PRs living on the Island want statehood, I say give it to them. My relatives still on the Island will be able to vote for president. However, do you realistically think that statehood will be granted to them? The last plebiscite they voted in favor of estadidad (statehood) nothing happened.

Puerto Rico is statistically whiter (75% white) and poorer than the mainland.

So, do we really need another useless white trash state like PR to add to our problems?

AFAIK a new state is created by a majority in Congress passing an Enabling Act - there is no threshold that all existing states must agree.

^^^^Exactly! So many native-born PRs have been victims of ID theft by illegals that the PR government had to take the unprecedented step of declaring all PR issued birth certificates null and void. Now if native-born PRs need a copy of their birth certificate, they have to jump through many hoops to get one. I've seen my Dad's birth certificate. At his age (92) he says he doubts he will ever have to show it again for any reason, which is a good thing as it is now null and void.

Puerto Ricans normally act so proud.

But, they're obviously not. That's all just an act. When it comes time to vote, they don't even want to be Puerto Rican.

Puerto Ricans don't want to be independent anymore than wherever it is you live. Why is this such a difficult concept for people to grasp?

Secondly, only Congress has the power to admit new states. A simple majority vote in both chambers of Congress. That's the way it's worked since 1789. If it was good enough for Ohio, it's good enough for Puerto Rico.

What's to stop other territories? Nothing, it's called self determination.
