"Solar is already "at least as cheap as coal" in some countries, including the United States, Germany, Australia, Spain and Italy, the report said. The cost of wind power could also be cut in half"
"By 2040, U.S. power generation from renewable energy is likely to skyrocket by 169%, according to a recent forecast from the research firm Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Coal-fired power is projected to plunge by 51% in the United States over the same period.

How much did the solar panels on your house cost you?
How much did the solar panels on your house cost you?
A nickle.
If you want to refute something in the article, go for it. Be sure and provide substantiation.
Meanwhile, and the actual point is, that no matter what regulations Trump changes , coal is history in the USA, and renewable sources are the future. Care to dispute that?
Brilliant, subsidize a dying form of energy. Very conservative of you.
Based on solar's huge improvements , it would appear those subsidies are very forward looking. And working.
The right is so engaged in arguing against any sound environmental policy, that the promise of cheap renewable energy makes them defensive! LOL
Seems like you are saying, without saying, that all the tech. advances have been made and from here on out we have reach the limit beyond which we can not go. Someone should have told the people that have been working on clean coal. We absolutely know the future. Anyone questing that should sail a ship off the end of the world.
Another stupid argument. As of right now we are only able to harness a very small percentage of the power generated by the sun but that is improving.
WV is known as a coal producer and the guv wanted coal tax breaks in this years budget. The people said NO and they didn't happen.
WV easily elected Trump and every one of it's representatives in D.C. are (R)'s. The people said "No". We still need coal. I think it's stupid to try and make something we still need artificially expensive as that will only hurt the poor BUT propping it up is useless. It's days are numbered along with whale oil.
(hint, quit calling people names (D)s and you may make inroads again)
Can anyone tell me what a boxcar load of coal will cost me ? I priced a solar system at around $ 15,000 but it didn't seem cost effective to me at my age and current electrical usage. Knowing that I would not likely live long enough to pay it off.
