Regardless of how many good deeds he and his fellow Scouts have done over the years, the image of Scouts cheering Trump and booing Obama is what people will remember.
What kind of character-building program turns out young men like this?
And if he leaves, then what? WE are the Scouting program: my husband, my father-in-law, my brother, my sons, our Scoutmasters and other volunteers, all of whom are upset & disappointed by what happened. It seems to me that our roars of disapproval are an indication that character-building DOES happen in the Boy Scouts.
Just wait..........you'll see......... Liberals will not waste this opportunity to vent their hatred of the President.
And here's another problem.
Most people in this situation would put the blame where it belongs: On the person who violated tradition and became the first president to use his opportunity to speak at a Boy Scout Jamboree for naked partisan purposes.
Instead of facing up to that and apologizing that president simply moves on leaving hundreds of thousands of angry, bewildered people. What's new about that? Trump has never apologized for ANYTHING that I can remember. After all, he never does anything wrong, correct?
Instead of seeing this situation for what it is, you pivot. You are already trying to blame liberals and "their hatred of the President".
Wise people would realize that this President has created many (if not most) of his own problems.
My son texted briefly last night with a friend who is at Jamboree, and he confirmed that at least one troop leader gave an extended Scoutmaster's Minute about civil behavior as outlined in the Scout Law. I'm sure we'll hear even more when they get home early next week.
So if the Scout Law has a section about civil behavior, what happened?
I'm not mad at the boy scouts; I'm blaming the person who should be blamed for discussing yachts and orgies - Trump.
My son was a scout - mainly a cub scout and one year as a regular boy scout (it was no longer 'cool" at that age) and there was nothing political about our local organization.
IF there were scout leaders cheering at former presidents - then I think that is unfortunate and unworthy of the scouting motto.
The word orgy was never mentioned. Yachts are something bad? Is that code for something?
I guess you didn't see the liberals here planning to boycott sales of Christmas wreaths by their local scouts.
Pretty pathetic way to act out your hatred for a President. It certainly wont be a protest that looks good on anyone.
Whatever behavior is objectionable regarding kids that were there should be dealt with by their parents or the troop leaders the parents give authority over them with regard to scouting. Its no one else's business.
This is all just liberal drama stirred up to further their agenda. Sad they are using children to do so. And, pretty hypocritical since that's what they accused the President of.

Well perhaps you could explain why they aren't petitioning the White House for an apology rather than threatening to boycott Boy Scout fundraising events?
So if the Scout Law has a section about civil behavior, what happened?
Why were 40,000 Scouts cheering this BS?
I don't think 40,000 Scouts and Scouters were. I think there were many stunned people in the audience, our Scoutmaster friend clearly one of them based on the text my son received last night. It is terribly unfortunate that some attendees booed a former president, which is disgraceful behavior and a violation of Scouting values.
But they can speak out about their own beliefs and principles. They can speak to what the BSA purports to stand for. And they can do it without denigrating the current idiot in the White House.
This is a PR nightmare for the BSA. Doing nothing is not helping them. Read randomparent's posts in this thread and tell me how pretending this never happened is working out for the scouts across the country.
It is a PR nightmare and it's not what Trump said or that he said it to a bunch of kids, it's that they cheered and booed along with the support of the BS leaders.
This is a character building organization?
Hmmm?
