Those pesky deplorables! We should exterminate all of them so America can be as great as she can be.

Let's see some outrage over that. Let's see athletes and entertainers taking knees for that.

Meanwhile, they blame Trump, when Trump is the ONLY political person on a national level to say that the violence in places like Chicago must stop.
This.

I never said it wouldn't exist. I'm saying it could trend in a direction the league and owners don't want it to go. That would be anything other than sustained growth.

I know viewers and profits are correlated
I've got a good deal more respect for people who stand up for their ideals, right vs wrong, even when their ratings and income may be at stake, far more than I do a billionaire like Trump who really doesn't have a care in the world about his financial future, never really did. Even less for someone who uses his position of power -- the POTUS no less -- to take on a cause like this one that he chose to prosecute in front of all Americans, now his captive audience, as if another episode of his reality TV show.

How can we change the channel for Heaven's sake???

What is sustained growth? NFL for year has been trying to grow outside the boundries of the U.S. for years. And failing at it.

In the 80's and 90s' you have rating declines mostly due to strikes. You have had fans swear off the NFL when their team moved to another city.

The only future growth is future americans which would mean the most important demographic is youth. In that regard, CTE may be the main factor.

Default Mike Tomlin called n-word by fire chief.

Fire chief calls Mike Tomlin a racial slur, then

I think this fire chief is undermining his point.

CTE is a FAR greater danger to the future sustainability of the sport than a few players kneeling during the anthem.

CTE is something that can drive significant numbers away from playing the sport. It is definitely a major reason I'll never let any children of my own play the sport.
