this i agree with, to a point. picking crops is tough work, and those that do the jobs should be paid accordingly. standing in front of a cash register and asking if you want fried with that is not a particularly tough job, and again should be paid accordingly.

So where does the 13 mil figure come from other than says NBC.
Now if you read the actual congressional research services document on US farm income outlook for 2017 that was linked in the article it states losses are due to:
Quote:
The forecast for a fourth year of lower net farm income is primarily the result of the outlook for continued weak prices for most crop and livestock products compared with the period of 2011-2013, when prices for many major commodities experienced record or near-record highs.
So losses in farm income are due to price and exports/importing countries.
If farmers indeed cant get illegals to pick crops they best suck it up an pay a little more for legal workers through H2B work visas.

I don't really understand what you're disagreeing with.

I'm talking about the product creation (farm labor and manufacturing, specifically), not workers at stores (although, yes, they would be paid fairly, too).

sad, but it simply is showing how some Americans are too lazy to work. If those unemployed didn't want the best of everything they would be out there picking the produce. What did they do 40 years ago, before we had so many illegals living here? I do believe we need a good worker program but I also believe lazy people are just that and don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. Oh I take that back, they do care; they care about how much the government will give them for not working.

they are doing that as well. So they have to work in the heat, I understand that but who's fault is it they would rather collect welfare than do a days work and who's fault is it many have no education. If the government cut back some of the welfare they would get their butts out there and work or get an education.
