Interesting question but I don't know what the practical relevance is for most people. Whether the society is "successful" (or not) does not mean the individual's situation is reflected in that. People get too caught up on theories instead of just focusing on their own lives. People who are capable can be happy or successful in any society, multi-cultural or not.
Skin color is the result of genetics and evolution of a particular group of people (ie race) how can you say its irrelevant? Literally everything from intellect, athleticism, disease, can be correlated with ones race.
What I meant is that one's skin color doesn't matter to me. I don't find anyone's skin color offensive. Differing cultures can cause clash, however. We have Americans of all skin colors and races that have assimilated into the melting pot and share that common culture. Yet there are many who do not.

That is not true at all.
Skin color is due to one factor only - how much time your ancestors spent under sunny and/or cloudy skies.
There is no question in my mind that a multi-ethnic society can work. we have had periods of American history where it has worked.
What I am also 100% certain of, is that for it to work, we have to get rid of all those among us who are willing to use race as a tool for political gain.
There have always been cultural clashes in this country but it has accelerated via too much immigration and illegal immigration in the past few decades. It started back in 1965.
We are all familiar with the phrase "diversity is our strength." I would like to know what the historical basis for that is. Sure, US has always been "multi-cultural" but all of those cultures came from the same race/geographic area and were always forced to assimilate into one culture. Where did the idea that a society made up roughly equally of fiver different races would be better than a county of only one race?
I'm not trying to stir the pot here, just trying to learn. Thanks!
The USA is pretty successful. We have been "multi-cultural" and "multi-ethnic" for centuries.
All diversity does is inject conflict into a society. It's not surprising that places like Iceland or Japan are stable and have relatively few social problems.

I'd hardly call Japan not having much social problems.
Low birth rate, aging population, fewer women wanting to get married, and limited professional and career opportunities for women. Increasing alienation of many young people from society, including the phenomenon of "shut-ins". Pressure-filled examination-based education system.
South Korea is also a relatively homogenous society but they have had conflict within and without their society, including political upheaval. Regionalism and provincial rivalries abound.
Being attacked and shook down by diversity, and out voted.
REally -- didn't your team win last time? Oh yeah -- more votes for the other team -- but electoral college and all that.
