Do you consider Puerto Ricans real Americans? (income, status, flag)

My question would be since they don't pay federal income tax is it reasonable that they expect federal agencies to come to their rescue?
They are 120 billion dollars in debt and now want to become a state so the rest of us can pay off their loans.
they pay federal taxes just not federal income tax. They can't vote for President and don't representation in congress.....does are the rules set up by Congress under the U.S. Constitution for territories.....if you have a problem with that then let's change the U.S. Constitution and treat U.S. territories like states in representation and taxes.
THE FEDERAL government doesn't pay the debt of states.
Why does Puerto Rico act as an independent nation?
For example they represent the island of Puerto Rico in the world Olympics.
Because Olympic teams are not tied to political status. New York or Texas could have their own Olympics team too if they put forward the money to form one.
Some nations allow their overseas regions to have their own Olympics teams (US, UK, China), others don't (France). The Dutch Caribbean islands were allowed to have their own Olympics teams until Dutch constitutional reform in 2010 led to the 6 islands becoming integral part of the Dutch Kingdom as either special municipalities of Holland itself (Bonaire, Saba, St. Eustatius) or as constituent countries equal to Holland (Aruba, Curacao, and St. Maarten).
Puerto Rican citizens DO NOT PAY THE FEDERAL INCOME TAX. PR is a known tax haven.
...but, they still hold their hands out for all manner of federal government assistance. When they need some money, that's when they become Americans.
Did I say they paid federal income tax? I said they pay federal taxes in the form of import/export taxes.
And mind you, they pay quite a bit in those taxes. PR is actually VERY expensive to live in due to high taxes on nearly everything. They don't have their hands out because they're free loaders, they have their hands out, because politics over there has made it nearly impossible for them to survive without handouts.
Lets not forget that many red states are also some of the biggest states with their hands out for assistance.
Good lord, the education system has failed you....bigly.
It is still like that though, generations later. Many arrived around the same time as the Europeans, and it wasn't an insult - why is it negative to have a unique culture?
Nothing wrong with it at all. It's the implication that because their culture is different from other Americans that this somehow invalidates them as "real" Americans that I find to be negative.
Unfortunately this forum has become increasingly more and more right wing in recent years and with it have come the ugly politics of White racial resentment.
I just ignore the ignoramuses, they are like the mainland version of the PIP: very loud and vocal but a relatively small minority.
With Stormfront shut down, the black shirts have to migrate somewhere. Unfortunately, if you unloaded all of the neo-Nazis, white nationalists, white identity voters and p*ss*d off rednecks from the P&C/Elections forum, you'd hardly have enough people left to fill one decent sized bus.

Well over 40% of Americans living on the mainland don't pay Federal income taxes either, and a large portion of them come from solid red states populated by so called "real Americans" ... yet they still get Federal government services. Heck, these states leech off of New York and California.
Lastly, Puerto Rico (and other territories) are treated unfairly in terms of Federal program and services that would reduce poverty. They are not eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. The Child Tax Credit does not apply unless they have more than 3 children. They get Medicaid and Medicare funding in the form of block grants (similar to what is proposed in the Graham-Cassidy bill) and the territories have to make up the difference which is very costly. Lastly, they are not eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance.
The Olympics is like the NFL, a PRIVATE ORGANIZATION......It has nothing to do who is American or U.S. CITIZEN.....try again!
