Were they (or at least one of them) have been broken by police firing at (what they thought were) muzzle flashes? Police standing on the ground in front of the hotel? Maybe one window had someone with a camera taking pictures of the concert? (An excessively stupid thing to do.)

Hard to believe the cops would fire at a window like that without more positive ID of the target. Then again, literally hundreds of people were screaming out with gunshot wounds.
Being under machinegun fire from a sniper's nest with 20,000 potential victims in the kill zone is a whole different proposition than one or two people might be in the line of fire of an armed robber and we should hold off until conditions change

They'e saying it might be 59 dead now, after incoming reports from the hospitals, very sad. I just walked past that concert/festival area and was in Mandalay Bay about a week ago, unreal.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for this horrible attack. They say that Stephen Paddock converted to Islam several months ago and that he was a soldier of the Islamic State.

Isis claims responsibility for deadliest gun massacre in US history
Terrorist group calls Stephen Paddock 'a soldier of the Islamic State'

Isis has claimed responsibility for the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Police said at least 50 people were killed and 200 wounded when a gunman opened fire on dense crowds at a concert in Las Vegas. Officials have identified the shooter as Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old American who had multiple weapons on the 32nd floor of a nearby hotel, where he is believed to have killed himself.

A statement published by the group's Amaq propaganda agency claimed the attacker was a “soldier of the Islamic Stateâ€. “The Las Vegas attacker is a soldier of the Islamic State in response to calls to target coalition countries,†it said. Isis also claimed the gunman “converted to Islam several months agoâ€, without providing more details. Paddock's religion and lifestyle have not yet emerged elsewhere. The wording of the release is similar to other attacks that have been inspired, rather than directed, by Isis.

I just came back into the living room to see that it is 58 dead and over 500 injured.
My heart is breaking for the families, those injured, those who experienced this and those who helped to save lives.

I do realize this. It's where I got the facts that show that rates have stayed the same.

I'd suggest you try again.....
