When the poor are ”the other” the answer is F*** ‘em and let them die (at least to the conservs on this forum)-
But when it’s a matter of their social security or Medicare they expect it to be paid in full because they have “earned” it because they have paid for a fraction of their benefits.
Now if their mama with dementia is kicked off of Medicaid and out of her nursing home and parked in their driveway to take care of, they change their tune.

Selective amnesia.
If the government is going to take money out of our paychecks every pay period, why shouldn't we expect it? We've paid into it. That's how it works.
You don't find these numbers shocking?
Quote:
We spend $554.5 billion on the 74.3 million enrolled in CHIP/Medicaid (that's 23% of the US population, BTW), alone (source: Kaiser Family Foundation). That averages to about $7,500/year, per enrollee. 48% of all US births are paid for by Medicaid, and those children are subsequently enrolled in CHIP/Medicaid. In fact, 43% of those enrolled in CHIP or Medicaid are under age 18. Only 9% of Medicaid enrollees are over age 65 (source: KFF). The recipients pay not one thin dime for it, unlike Medicare*, and all their medical treatment is free to them.
Nearly half the births in this country are among the poorest? I'm stunned by that.
Why are people bringing children into this world that they cannot afford to feed?

Because people have grown accustomed to cradle to grave caring by the government. The care may not always be great and the hoops are numerous but it's a lifestyle now set in motion by the Great Society.
Most of the country are zombies...just how the government likes it.

A lifestyle. Wow. You're probably right.
No wonder the middle class has gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Bled dry.
Those who should be taken care of are the ones who are too old to work, those who worked all their lives who are retired now but had paid taxes during their careers, and those who cannot work for physical/mental disorders. One qualification should be those who were born in America.
Able bodied people should get a job if they want to have healthcare. Those who just arrive into the US shouldn't be on the top of the list to get government assistance.
There are American born residents in America who have worked all their lives and paid taxes but are kicked to the curb when it comes to government assistance. That is completely wrong and should be a law against that.
Ok, in states without expanded medicaid the only recipients are children & their parents, the disabled and elderly. Undocumented immigrants are not eligible. Expanded medicaid allows for non-disabled, non-elderly adults who don't have children to be covered, but most of them work, they just don't make enough money to pay for insurance, even with ACA subsidies.

Read the article, government has been helping provide health care since it started. That is not a new thing or a millennial thing, it's just always been a thing.
Seems to work for San Fransicans. Look at their severe homelessness problem. Shelter is even more of a critical life-sustaining need than health care.
I'm not sure what a "San Fransican" is but there are homeless people all over the US and that's probably a topic for another thread since there is little if any relationship between healthcare and homelessness.
You are paying for other people's healthcare each and every time you purchase a product or service from a company that provides healthcare for their employees. And every time you pay your local state and federal taxes.
And that irritates me no end. People should pay for their own stuff.

Your solution is “let’s rob other people!”
That is moral, just and fair?
