Sorry, but I can't have much sympathy here. My husband was drafted (aka conscripted into slavery) and served in Vietnam for twelve cents an hour pay with no benefits after his duty ended, was exposed to Agent Orange, had a daughter with a birth defect and has had cancer himself twice. The services these days are like a job, they hire on and do their jobs and getting killed is a potential element of the job.
Hard to read, but true.

I respect Chris Kyle and that lone survivor guy (whatever his name is) But I feel nowadays it is all about Navy seals. I know a lot of true warriors who never brag. They are not rich, they did their job and you will never guess what they have done. I have a friend who lost two legs, (He is an Army ranger) he always says, "Well, this is what i signed up for." He's the most loving guy I've ever met. Never thought this is an insult.

The lady volunteers at VA hospital lost her husband in Viename, her two sons in ME. All she does is taking care of others and she loves all of us. (never made us feel inferior.) I've never heard her saying, "I speak for all military families." lol Respect is certainly earned.

President Obama
And no mention of defending freedoms, just "do that job" lol that's the most honest thing I've ever seen attributed to Obama, albeit unintentional on his part.

No, it is not magic. I'm not saying don't burn your neighbor who's a heretic, maybe she has it coming, I'm just saying this one particular thing isn't her fault.

Finally, when we Americans go to sleep, the rest of the world doesn't just stop and politely wait for us to wake up.
This is probably one of the funniest posts I've seen on CD in the near decade I've been on this site.

Well done.

Trump has absolutely zero credibility, so him denying it means nothing. We know he's going to lie about it.
The family confirmed it how???
Anyone can lie, even, " the family."

"Relatives of people who died in military service have recounted varied interactions with President Donald Trump in the difficult days and weeks after their loved one's death. Despite Trump's boast that he reaches out personally to all families of the fallen, interviews with families members did not support his claim. Some never heard from him at all, and a few who did came away more upset.

The Associated Press reached out to the families of all 43 people who have died in military service since Trump became president and made contact with about half the families. Of those who would address the question, relatives of nine said they had heard from Trump by phone or mail. Relatives of nine others said they haven't."

Please don't take this the wrong way, but if they have the will and the passion, no other job will make them happy unless they are in the military. I never wanted to be a military spouse...jokes on me. My husband joined after his civilian job was not making him happy.

This is true. My grandma would tell me about that time period. Also that my grandpa found out about my mom being born by snail mail during that time.
