Correct. And Dems are the current party of continued Black oppression via very high participation rates in public assistance programs and trapping their kids in abysmal public schools. Dem strategy: Keep them dumb, poor, dependent on public assistance, and therefore voting Dem for generations.

This fixation on party is a distraction and typical of revisionists that follow the Lost Cause Doctrine. In fact I'd go as far to say that anybody that tries to push that the Democratic party of today is the same as the Democrats of the Solid South likely believe the Civil War had nothing to do about slavery or abolition, but about Northern Aggression against a victimized Confederacy.
This is why I stay away from being either Dem or Reb there is too much fixation on party affiliation. This politics board just seem to be filled with right-wing conservatism.
Most poor people regardless of skin color vote Democrat. When the south was more poor and less educated, the Democratic party owned it.
Most poor White people Vote republican no matter what State they are in especially in the South
