Gumbel had his issues as well, probably wouldn't have survived in the world as it exists today...

Yes it is true. $25MM per year equals $481K per week, so just under $500K. And he probably got a huge settlement for the remainder of his contract, and to keep quiet.

You nailed it.

Corporations have learned how not to handle allegations the way Fox News once did. That fish rotted from the head down. Tens of $ millions in secret settlements and a shareholder lawsuit vs " the talent".

Cut the losses and move oN.

Innapropriate sexual harassment in the workplace is not partisan or unique to any industry. Somewhere a night shift supervisor at Burger King has likely used his percieved power and influence with a subordinate desperate to keep her job...

There were tabloid rumors that she departed after an affair with Lauer ended. She has called the rumors ridiculous.

Reportedly, someone went to NBC HR on Monday night with allegations and Lauer was fired 24 hours later.
Wasn’t there a rumor that Lauer is the father of her baby?

PERSONALLY I am glad the BIG boys club is crumbling --I am not a women's liber or feminist- but really tired of the their culture, and I work in 98% male environment - They had a chance to treat the women right - now they are angry-marched and taking action... play-days are OVER!

Of course Im not saying they are all unfounded.
Most who have been employed in management positions are very aware of how complaints of harassment and innappropriate behavior are investigated by HR. Sometimes the allegations are frivolous and sometimes not.

Not a fan of Lauer. Never watch morning TV news. But I still think the grown up snowflakes from college are now in the workforce. You know who they are. They are the women who have been told men have to ask permission at every step of a sexual advance.

The only women who I might take pity on are the ones who are told, "Perform or be fired."

At this morning's break (we work 6:00 to 11:00 on Wednesdays), three of my co-workers and I got spontaneous gleeful phone calls/texts from our spouses about Matt. I know DH hated him for years(and obviously co-workers' husbands did also). I never watched him, so I don't have an opinion of him one way or the other. I'm not a feminist or into women's lib, but If he sexually harassed/molested someone, I just say "good". He got what he deserved.

Baloney. Women love advances if they are being honest. It’s how they deal with it that makes them the woman they are. If they reject the advances in a respectful, classy way that is where it should end. Harassment is not acceptable, but advances are normal male behavior.
