The new map is NOT gerrymander free. It has now been gerrymandered for the benefit of the Democrats by a overtly partisan and activist 5-2 Democrat appointed court.
This just goes to show what we already knew - that Democrats are only bothered by gerrymandering when they are not the ones doing it.
Well, of course.
Both parties want the districts outline to favor them, both fight it out in court.
In this case they went to a court that favored the democrats, not surprisingly, the democrats won.
There is no fix. Only to you there is because you don't agree with it.
This new map has been gerrymandered in favor of the Democrats by a highly activist and overtly partisan court that is packed with Democrats by a 5-2 ratio.
Anyone who is honestly opposed to partisan poltical gerrymandering will be opposed to this map and the process by which it was produced.

Baloney. The new map is as fair as you can reasonably get. There are two clues to gerrymandering: districts with long, narrow shapes, and districts that cut through cities. The court's map makes a lot more sense -- it keeps cities intact in one district and the districts are more "square."
In favor of Democrats? Bwahahahaha. Yeah if by "in favor of" you mean "fair". It doesn't give the democrats any great advantages. It just removes them from the Republican side.
IE if half the people vote democrat, now half of them would get democrats in place. Thats fair.
And its interesting how folks seem to want to turn it into "thats not fair!". What nonsense.

The Court drew its own map, rejecting the legislature's proposal and the governor's proposal. Look at the Court's map and look at the existing map. It is plain that the Court did a much better job.

Try again. The Court axed the legislature's grossly gerrymandered map and delivered a reasonable map.

States rights should allow them to draw their districts however they choose.
It is.
The GOP drew the districts the way they wanted. Other people in the state objected, and sued in the state court. The state court agreed that the GOP was drawing the district unfairly. The state court drew the new map. All done within the state and according to the due process the state had laid out.
Boy, what is this country coming to when a political party cannot violates the Constitution and ensure their candidates always win???? That can't be what democracy is about!!!

Congressional districts are inherently arbitrary no matter how they are drawn or who they are drawn by, but it’s irrelevant anyway when you allow anybody and everybody to vote in the first place.
