In any case, now those kids really know the importance of gun safety.
Even if that was the case the gun owner had no business having a finger anywhere near the trigger unless he intended to fire the weapon. I just thought the thread title misleading, the gun did not just 'go off'.
For a while there were millions of guns manufactured that had flaws that would allow them to go off without the trigger being pulled, but just from being handled roughly. Might be one of those. Or maybe it got caught on something that pushed the trigger while moving it.
Looks like liberal teachers are shooting up the classrooms trying to make a case for gun control.
I read the article and it did not mention the Teacher's political persuasion at all.
What it did mention was he was also a reserve cop and a city councilman.
The article mentioned that "protocols" were not followed because no one could explain why he was pointing a loaded firearm at the ceiling. WTF? Where is a loaded firearm supposed to be pointed in an occupied classroom that would be within protocols?
This is the second incidence this week where a teacher with a gun IN SCHOOL is the cause for an incidence. This one was trained and a reserve police officer.
I've had guns all my life, and have never, ever, ever even been close to this type of thing happening. Ammo does not belong anywhere in a gun, whether up the spout or in a magazine, at any time ever unless it will be used for target practice or hunting.
Anything else is asking for "Accidents" to happen.
My father taught me that there is nothing more useless than an unloaded gun. Every one of my semi-autos in the same has a loaded mag in it. Extra mags are stored loaded. The pistol on my right hip has 15 in the mag and one in the chamber. In fact, there was no discussion in my defensive pistol class about carrying without one in the chamber. It was assumed that everyone did.
The teacher is a stupid idiot who should probably reexamine if he should have a firearm. The PD should dump him immediately. Makes responsible firearm owners look bad so people can post articles like this and say "See!"
