They love that he's rich and he talks BS. As someone said upthread, evidence-based reality matters not a whit to these people - nor does right/wrong, morality, ethics. He's THE MAN. He's THEIR MAN.
This Khashoggi thing is really awful. Trump said tonight we'd be stupid to screw up billions of dollars of arms sales because of this murder and butchery. So, now he's gaslighting about "rogues" within the Saudi Embassy, no matter these butchers were flown in for a specific purpose, and one of the group is seen wherever the Crown Prince goes.
Where money is concerned, there are no limits. Quite a message he's sending to the world. He may very well be altering global views on outrageousness forever.
You know he is
He has proven what most people thought for decades --that Presidents can be as immoral as anyone ever since Nixon had to resign because he created a criminal conspiracy in the WH to be reelected (along w/other illegal acts) and lied about them
And the recordings were uncovered--which Nixon lied about having--and the GOP senate knew it would have to vote to convict
So he resigned and Ford (deputy Doody) pardoned him
Setting in train the entire meme for Trump's own fiasco
The US is self-destructing its image for fairness and justice and moral integrity with every word out of Trump's mouth
And no one is more happy than Putin
Because that is Putin's dream--
To have America prove it is just as immoral and rotten as Russia has always claimed it was
Before nobody really believed it because we had presidents who did behave and talk like intelligent human beings who while they might be a little sleezy could still be counted on to preach "truth, Justice and the American Way" and do the right thing==
But Trump just dumps fecal matter all over that with every action and lie out of his mouth
God, he is just turning America into one of his over styled, totally tacky, Trump hotels from the 80s
The trick would get all the reporters to ask only that one question until it gets a viable answer
Sanders, Raj, Trump==whoever the talking head is that is answering the questions--that should be the ONLY question ANY reporters asks...period...
And then there would be no more press conferences...
Well, folks, we now have a euphemism for the Trump LIE - handed down by a California judge:

Guess alternative facts now have legitimacy - and Trump can truthfully say he doesn't lie - his comments are rhetorical hyperbole and not to be able to use this rhetorical hyperbole would significantly hamper him.
So, we've come full circle. We have no right to expect the president of the US to tell the truth.
You are so right in this assessment, (how did I miss reading this one?).
Although this ruling still does not protect Mr. Trump from being an un-indicted co-conspirator. His 'mantle' of the Presidency is, perhaps, the only thing protecting him from being indicted. We the people deserve much more than that from a sitting President. Shielding himself is certainly not enough.
Also. Where are all the 'rights folks' here?
No one or no ruling can remove our right to simply expect more from a POTUS.
