The US as a whole has been separating families for decades. FDR separated Japanese American families during WW2. Separated Native American families after taming the west. Wait for it, wait for it, lets not talk about separating families during slavery!

Again, I don't hold Trump into high regard, or not a fan of Trump. I'm just happy that such inhuman law is gone.

Now let me redpill you. If this illegal immigration is an issue. My old man told me that American is the most hypocritical ape in the room. He is right. Americans talking about Russia meddling in their elections, but America meddles in plenty of elections for sovereign nations for decades. If such countries don't vote right in the eyes of the American, such nations will face political, economic or military torrent from the US. The US needs to stop destabilizing nations like this. This is what liberals, SJWs, and conservatives do not talk about. They don't talk about the destabilization, but they all want illegal immigrants to flock here. Granted the illegal immigrants should stay. No point to send them back home anymore. They are here, and let them remain here. My point is this. The US must stop destabilizing countries in Central, South America and the Caribbean by economic, political and military means, legalize drugs so that black men don't have to go to prison in large numbers, and white men don't have to be strung out on drugs. Legalizing drugs will remove money from going to cartels in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean, and thus will put such cartels out of business. On the Flip side, help improve reduce crime and drug use in black and poor white areas, allowing men to rebuild their communities, instead of going to prison, or being strung out on drugs and dying early. If America stops destabilizing nations like in Central America, the amount of illegal immigrants will reduce.

do you realize that illegal immigration brings wages down, over crowds the public school system and public services and over crowds cities and brings rent and the cost of living up?.........it's bringing the cheap labor here and the taxpayers have to pay the bill.

blaming the U.S. for the corruption and internal problems in Central America is ignorant and it shows you haven't been in those countries to know why they are in the state they are.....that's like blaming the problems of Venezuela on the U.S. when anybody with half of brain knows that the causes are socialism and a very big corrupt government that don't protect individual rights and property rights.

your solution is wrong, if you let them stay more will come. So when do you enforce our laws?

Guess what? Today's dems are NOT your grandfather's dems. Those dems of yore truly looked out for the poor, working and middle classes. They would have been horrified to discover that their constituents were either seeing their wages depressed or being displaced in the workforce, all due to illegal immigration. And those dems of yore would have done something about this problem---and I don't mean amnesty and open borders either.

Today's democrats put illegal aliens ahead of the millions of suffering underemployed and unemployed American citizens.

Neither party is looking out for Americans. So don't come back with a screed about republicans. However, at one time I would have expected much, much better from the dems.

Today's dems no doubt are laughing themselves sick when they think of how many people they've duped into believing that they care about American citizens.

Talk about "cheat, lie, stage, false claim and gaslight" --- that's what dems are doing these days. It's too bad that you can't see it. You are being played by the dems---big time.
Thomas Sowell wrote an excellent book called Visions of the Annointed in 1995, so immigration didn't figure. However it would apply here, where liberals believe they have a simple solution for "problems" of their own imagination. They are willing to inflict suffering and chaos to try them out, and are nowhere to be found when the solutions inevitably don't work or make matters worse.

What is really appalling is the children and parents were not matched via an ID badge, names, descriptions, etc. Our "government," had no intention of reuniting families, did they?

Well, why not set up one of our huge football stadiums and bring the children and parents to the same location. Children could run to their parents. Oh, wait, that is too easy.

Our "government," needs to get their rear ends off of their hands and do the right thing, that is if they can figure out what the right thing is. What a bunch of dummies, without a heart. JMO

In the mean time the Donald needs to shut his mouth and go sleep it off. Does Mar Largo have a convention center to hold over 2000 people?

Yep. That's who I'm asking about. Ya'll wanna ask us what we are doing to help illegal immigrants in light of the American poor and downtrodden. What are YOU doing to help THEM?

My question is, how insane are you? That is not how you match parents with kids, especially when stockholm syndrome is well documented. Best thing to do is perform actual DNA tests to match parents to kids by real blood, because a good deal of these kids are being smuggled in as either mules for drugs, or as victims of human trafficking.

Can you give a reference that shows exactly what they do when an illegal entrant is processed?

It appears to me that ICE has been using biometrics, primarily fingerprints, to process illegal entrants as far back as 2011. I've seen plenty of pics of aliens being fingerprinted in ICE facilities with optical non-ink scanners but none tied specifically to the current batch in question. I'd think it common sense that every living body that gets processed would get fingerprinted as it is a cheap and fast process, not much more than asking your name.

However, there is this story that is now whining about Trump using fingerprints to identify parents claiming unaccompanied minors. There's just no way to please liberals! Don't use biometrics to keep track of aliens and you are separating kids from parents forever. Use biometrics to keep track of them and you are intimidating them and violating their privacy.

"Separating children from their parents at the border is creating havoc — but a new Trump administration fingerprinting policy may create even more in the future by discouraging their families from claiming them. Even before the White House imposed zero-tolerance border enforcement that led to an explosion in family separations, the Trump administration decided to collect biometrics from people who take custody of unaccompanied minors — with no guarantee that it won’t be used for enforcement."

"The new fingerprint policy comes as Trump’s aggressive anti-immigration policies already appeared to be driving down the proportion of parents who show up to retrieve children from federal custody."

Real quick, moms and dads. Would you let your child remain in custody and not claim them because you would have to be biometrically identified? Maybe the number of parents claiming children are down because they aren't really their parents?

Where is the option for.... “I am/am not a Christian and support our country enforcing its laws?”

Exactly. It's such a biased and leading poll that I'm really surprised the percentage of "do not support" isn't over 90%. I don't know a single person that likes seeing parents and kids separated. If you don't scratch beyond the surface of the immediate question and delve into why, then the answer should be almost universally No. The difference in opinion comes when many of us understand that A) the parents are accountable and made the CHOICE to violate our immigration laws, B) you cannot mix minors with adults in criminal detention (Trump's EO will be blocked by the courts), and C) if we can't detain them together the alternative is not going to be to release them together and let kids be an exemption from our immigration laws.
