No. It's people who understand how poorly and inefficiently a single payer system would run. It would be worse than the DMV but lives are at stake. Its also people that have a good idea of the massive screwing they would get if it were to happen.

Look at how much of a mess it was to roll out a website so you could buy s product you were required to buy. It was a website. You would really trust the government with our health care?

Mainly because, if you're talking about the U.S. government, it's completely, laughably broke.

In fact, in terms of the sheer volume of outstanding debt, there has never been a more profligate entity. No entity in the history of civilization has been more broke than the U.S. government is today.

If the U.S. government wanted to declare bankruptcy, it couldn't even afford the filing fee to start the process.

Well, anyway...that's why.

There is a difference in providing and promoting.
Therefore, if you're a farmer and your crops fail or get destroyed, then the government should NOT intervene and allow you to starve and suffer the natural consequences.

Is that according to the US constitution?

If you're drowning and nobody throws you a life jacket, then according to the US constitution, you should be allowed to suffer the consequences, since you can't swim to safety on your own.

Look!

In a rich republic such as that of the USA, we the citizens, should be afforded the very best in healthcare provided that our tax base can afford it. That's the purpose of government. To protect and provide for its citizens via appropriate organization and utilization of its citizen's skills and means of production.

I make a great salary as an engineer and would have no issue paying higher taxes for universal health care. But that’s just me and here in America I’m the minority... maybe someday.

1. Not everyone makes your salary
2. You're more than welcome to donate your money to medical research charities.
3. It's tasteless to want poor people to be taxed more to pay for the healthcare of everyone including the rich

I think it’s tasteless to not want to help others in need of healthcare.

We’d rather pad the pockets of insurance companies and lawyers.

Soon when employers no longer offer insurance without high deductibles, I think that will be the inflection point for UHC.

Given what we know about our government, politicians, and people in general HOW does anyone trust that they could implement a single payer system? Straight off the bat we KNOW that there will be tons of corruption as insiders take advantage of "special deals" to enrich themselves. Don't even question it, just acknowledge and accept then ask yourself if it's really going to be cheaper or better than what we have now. I say no to both but I've been around long enough to know these things.

With all the money we now pay to insurance companies, not for actual health care, but for lots of folks to get rich, wouldn't you like that to go straight into healthcare? And you feel that there will be "tons of corruption" with single payer, but what about the "tons of corruption" taking place in the wheeling and dealing insurance companies? There are problems with any system, and it is ridiculous to assume that our current system is efficient and corruption free.
