I have never liked him. I remember seeing him on the news in the 80s, and to me, he embodied all the worst of that decade. He's always seemed to me like a loud-mouthed, mean, ostentatious boor.
The first I ever heard of Trump was back in the 1980s when he was getting a lot of publicity as this big shot real estate developer from New York City. I remember the first time I saw an interview with the guy and my immediate impression was "this guy is total BS. An empty suit. A non-entity. No talent whatsoever other than convincing fools that he's some kind of big dealmaker with a Midas touch". And then thirty years later those fools elect him president. But I had him pegged from day one.
I enjoyed The Apprentice mostly for the business-driven advice. I never like his personality. I didn't know much about him personally except what was reported here and there about his shady Trump University, golf courses, residential and hotel buildings. I listen to Howard Stern and would hear Trump's antics when he was on Stern. But figured it was radio and entertainment talk. Not at all. The trash he speaks is the trash that runs through him.
The amount of hip-hop songs in the 80s and 90s that mentioned him was staggering.
"Gremlins 2" had a major character that basically was him. His name was "Clamp" and he owned a NYC skyscraper that was taken over by the gremlins. He ends up hooking up with one of his employees--her name was "Marla."
